Is ex-TLC singer Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas poised to become VH1’s next big reality star? That depends on whom you ask. Today, a rumor spread online alleging that Usher‘s former boo is getting her own I Love New York-style reality dating show. But a rep for the pop star-turned-handbag designer told me not to believe the hype: "Unfortunately, we weren’t involved with the casting company that started this rumor. Chilli is currently in talks with several networks on developing a series of lifestyle-oriented shows. We have not discussed her actually starring in a particular show. The casting company has misrepresented the theme." A VH1 insider adds: "Sounds like they’re still shopping the show." Translation: Sounds like wishful thinking.
Meanwhile, whatever happened to Chilli’s solo debut CD? It was originally due out last August but was delayed until October before dropping off the release schedule altogether. "Her solo album project has been moved back," says her rep, stating the obvious without offering a firm release date. "We should have a second single out before the first of the year." Wait — there was a first single? Am I the only one who completely missed it?
In other TLC news….The family of Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes has partnered with an obscure record label called Mass Appeal Entertainment to release a collection of the late rapper’s unreleased solo material. Due out on Jan. 27, the CD is titled EYE-Legacy and it will feature collaborations with Tupac Shakur ("Legendary") and Wanya Morris from Boyz II Men ("Tampered With"), among others….Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins has a solo project in the works as well, though no release date has been set. It’s also rumored that she recently joined the cast of NBC’s Celebrity Apprentice 2, which would make sense because she probably learned a thing or two about handling her business when TLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1995. Besides, do we really need (or want) to hear new music from these women?
