From Biggie Smalls to next big thing?

Categories: Music

You may not recognize Avery Storm’s name, but you’re probably familiar with his voice. Three years ago, the R&B/hip-hop singer made his first appearance on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart when he sang the hook on the Notorious B.I.G.’s "Nasty Girl" from 2005’s Duets: The Final Chapter. This year, he helped Miami rapper Rick Ross reach No. 41 by supplying vocals to "Here I Am." Now he’s preparing to showcase the full range of his talent on his upcoming debut CD, Shotgun Love. No firm release date has been set, but Storm expects it’ll drop in spring 2009. I recently hung out with him at a recording studio in Times Square, where he gave me an exclusive preview of some tracks from the album, which features collaborations with Jermaine Dupri, Jadakiss, and Bryan-Michael Cox, among others. Here’s part one of the interview. (Check out part two after the jump.)
