Heavy rock supergroup Chickenfoot announce album details

Categories: Debuts

Chickenfoot_lChickenfoot, the new band comprising ex-Van Halen-ers Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, guitar-shredding legend Joe Satriani, and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, have announced details of their first album. According to the NME the band’s eponymous CD will be released on June 5 with track titles including "Sexy Little Thing", "Soap On A Rope," and "Down the Drain." The last two songs can also be heard on the band’s myspace page. In an interview last year Hagar declared that Chickenfoot "could rival Zep." Personally, I suspect the man behind Cabo Wabo Tequila may have been getting a little too high on his own supply when he made that statement. But give the tracks a listen and tell us what you think.

    Hey Clark,
Journalists are suppose to be subjective. You were very negative in your comment, and you most certainty didn’t give all the details about Sammy’s Zeppelin comment. Any first year college student knows better than to write like you just did. Try reading about objectivity, you might learn something.
Personally, I think this tour and album will be FUN – which is what rock and roll is suppose to be. They are all great musicians, and at least they are having fun. :)

Sounds pretty good. Zeppelin? No! But not bad.

  • Tamburlaine

    Satriani bald?

  • Lyleman

Satriani has been a ‘chrome dome’ for years now.

  • jim

    chad smith can do better

  • John R.

What’s Will Farrell doing with them?

  • Dave Mccain

” It’s been a long time since I rock and rolled. . .” Maybe it ain’t Led Zeppelin but I haven’t heard buzz like this for a LONG time. Songs are great so far!!. Show Eddie how it’s really done! Who cares about the Zeppelin comment? Only people who write articles like this ( and dream of working for Rolling Stone Magazine ) would care! Give it up and go LISTEN to the music, if you dare!

  • John

Not even close to Zeppelin or DLR era Van Halen.Closer to Velvet Revolver territory .Songs sound like generic Van Hagar era outtakes that didnt make it without Eddie or Alex magic .I don`t hear the so called Van Halen backgound vocals either .I`ll wait for the Real Deal to come out when dave ed alex and wolfie hit the studio in June .

  • adam

Wow,that was crap.I`d expect more from joe, rythm wise.I`ll wait for dave, eddie, and alex to jam again. These clowns need a new producer.

  • Greg

Sammy`s ripping off Dr Suess for lyrics now ?? Songwriting sounds a little under developed , but i guess some people will buy anything.

  • Joseph

This is a great lineup anyway you slice it. It has nothing to do with Van Halen, Joe’s Solo Career, or Chad & the Chillies! The is band about playing na making music with no egos what so ever. I have met every one of these guys and the are all down to earth honest people and amazing musicians. Let get them a chance guys. Look forward to the release in June.

  • Joe

Led Zep? Gimme a break. After their first 2 albums it was dribble. This band sounds great and should have at least 1 good album to have us enjoy.

  • Will

LOL at John who thinks that DLR and Wolfie are going to save EVH from his 14 year dry spell.
    This is great news!

  • J

you were very negative…waaaaaaaaah…shut the f*ck up…its a review loser

  • Sim

A fantastic first effort! Sounds great and FUN! Maybe this will inspire Eddie Van Wanker to release some of these phantom tracks he’s been yacking about for years. can’t wait for the show! DLR and the sisters Van Halen are old news.

  • ram-5150

used to be a eddie guy………….but joe kicks him in the ass
Cant’ wait to hear the rest of the album……….DLR give me a break..Sammy rules

  • Kevin

Considering Sammy`s last cd sold like 5000 or 10000 copies and how many people have bought a Joe Satriani cd ?? Chickenfoot will sell a few cd`s the first week and disappear, why do you think there starting there tour in Europe ? But i must admit it`s a step up from Sammy`s and mike collabartion with Billy Duff but that`s not saying much. Can`t wait for VAN HALEN to hit the studio this summer for some more BIG ROCK !!

  • Roscoe2u

PLEASE, I saw the VH tour twice last year and DLR sounded horrible and was reduced to speaking most of the lyrics rather than singing them. The guy that fronts the “Atomic Punks” tribute band is a better singing Dave than Dave is. Not to mention they used backing tracks on the backup vocals to cover the fact that Michael isn’t there and Wolfie can’t sing. I look forward to the CHICKEN FOOT……wooo hooo

I listened to soap on a rope today on 97.7Hits FM and was at the edge of my seat wondering where did this song come from? I know Sammy’s voice so that was obvious but from what band?
I love it! All I can say is more more more! As for rival of Zeppelin well
Sammy that is going to take alot more than what you are puttin out my friend. Good luck boys, I will be waiting for tour dates.

    Sam sucks.

I love how everyone is doing comparisons to this and that and everything. Everyone music listener now thinks they are a music giant and is quick to criticize. The clips so far groove quite well especially “oh yeah”. It has a little of everything. Pop/rock/blues progressions, a little soloing and a lot of good rock and roll. (Not morbid moaning forever and overindulgent 10m songs like some others. Like Chuck said “they are all great musicians, and at least they are having fun.” Good on them!

there’s a saying that goes “those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach. Those who can’t teach or do, critisize.” So at least we know those who are talking crap about chickenfoot, can’t play or show us some awesome music. They get to sit at home in their bedrooms and post stuff on the internet about how they could do it better. BOTTOM LINE – decide for yourself. Listen to yourself.

  • lowie

a second zep, no, but another supergroup yes

  • Racinjason

I heard something, about Jeff Beck being involved w/this band, on a New England radio station. What gives?

  • McCauley

Not Led Zep… Sounds okay, but what can you expect from these legends… Sammy should have used David Louser for the drum tracks.

  • Fixxx

Zeplin was not a super group you idiots, Page was the only person that had previous fame.
    Damn stupid jackasses
