Eleanor Rigby, followed closely and depressively by Exit Music by Radiohead.
ALthough I am not a country fan, Colin Raye (?)’s Love Me.
Oh, damn. Someone else said “Tears In Heaven.” Good call.
I’m going to be showing my age with this one, but for me the most heartbreaking song is Paul Davis’s song “I Go Crazy”. The line “just when I thought I was over you, I see your face and it just ain’t true” kills me every time.
‘I will Always Love You’ by Dolly Parton. Perfect lyrics, melody, arrangement, and vocal.
“Sign Your Name” by Terence Trent D’Arby, hands down.
Long Long Time – Linda Ronstadt
Ghost in this House – Alison Krauss & Union Station
Sand and Water by Beth Nielsen Chapman
Last Song for Mother by Nanci Griffith
Each one reduces me to tears every time…
“He Stopped Loving Her Today” by George Jones. Breaks my heart every time I hear it.
“The Scientist” -Coldplay
fire and rain by james taylor. when you know the background story its just terribly sad.
signs by block party makes me cry almost every time.
ooh tears in heaven – good call.
That’s pretty much all I listen to…..
John Wayne Gacy Jr- Sufjan Stevens
Good Woman- Cat Power
Angel- Sarah McLaughlin
I am ready- Counting Crows
Delicate- Damien Rice
etc.
Putting the Damage On–Tori Amos
“I’m trying not to move/it’s just your ghost passing through”
or
A Case of You–Joni Mitchell
“Communication” by The Cardigans
