During a stopover in Paris on a recent flight back to the U.S. after performing in Malaysia with his band N.E.R.D., Pharrell channeled his inner Michael Jackson and Bob Fosse while singing and dancing in an effort to persuade the cashiers at McDonald’s to open up early and serve him. Unfortunately for Skateboard P, his goofy antics did not seem to impress the ladies, as it appears that he left empty-handed, but not before the entire bizarre episode was caught on camera for your viewing pleasure.

Late-night musical guests: What to watch tonight
Tired of hearing about great bands the day after they rocked Letterman, Leno, Kimmel, etc.? We are here to help. Starting today, the Music Mix will be letting you know whenever somebody special is playing on late-night TV. Tonight we recommend PJ Harvey and John Parish on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Set your TIVOs, and to give you a taste of what you’re in for, here’s the video for their latest single, "Black Hearted Love."
Also scheduled for tonight:
Chris Cornell on Last Call with Carson Daly
Chicago on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson
Gabriella Cilmi on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon
White Lies on Late Show with David Letterman
Charlie Wilson on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Avril Lavigne: Dark Mistress of YouTube
Some of you media-nomming Mixers may have read the article in yesterday’s New York Times about the current clash between amateur YouTube posters and Warner Brothers Music Group. (If not, here’s the gist: Basically, tens of thousands of clips on the site contain copyrighted songs, from sports-blooper montages to home movies and acoustic covers of Foreigner jams recorded in blacklit suburban basements. And since WBMG and YouTube are having a licensing disagreement, the former has started pulling down these clips, no matter how small their view count.)
So far, so business-y. But hark! What have we here? The piece offhandedly mentions what some of us may not know, or have purposefully blocked out, along with certain junior high traumas and embarrassing sexual episodes: The number-one most watched clip on the site—not just for music videos, or Canadians, or people who wear arm-warmers—is AVRIL FRICKIN’ LAVIGNE. More than 117.6 million views for her 2007 schoolyard-chant single “Girlfriend”, as of today. (The embedding code is disabled, so you won’t be upping that count here, buddy.)
Now, granted, there has long been speculation that the numbers have been artificially inflated by tech tricks propagated on Avril fan sites. And the all-time top-ten list is kind of a motley crew: Sure, there’s Leona Lewis’s “Bleeding Love,” “Rihanna’s “Please Don’t Stop the Music” and the Timbaland/One Republic collaboration “Apologize,” but also a ventriloquist act, and a Spanish-language short film. (A homemade clip for “Music Is My Hot Hot Sex,” by Brazilian art-punks CSS, crossed the 100-million mark artificially before being debunked last year.) Still, zut alors! Readers, if you ruled the internets, what would your YouTubetop ten look like? Would Avril be allowed anywhere near it? Do tell.

Keri Hilson's 'Knock You Down' video: Will it make her a star?
Keri Hilson is caught in an unlikely love triangle between Kanye West and Ne-Yo in her new video for "Knock You Down," the fourth single from her seductive debut CD, In a Perfect World, which drops today. Though their scenes together are G-rated in comparison to Ciara’s steamy romp with Justin Timberlake in their new clip for "Love Sex Magic," Hilson’s solo shots in bed are undeniably hot. Indeed, a tasteful flash of booty never hurt nobody. But will it help listeners connect with her CD? It’s hard to say. Her first single, last year’s "Energy," peaked at a disappointing No. 78 on the all-important Billboard Hot 100 chart, but a guest appearance by Lil Wayne pushed "Turnin Me On" to No. 15. Still, none of her singles–including "Return the Favor"–have matched the success of her breakout cameo on Timbaland’s 2008 hit "The Way I Are," which soared to No. 3. What gives? Hilson’s got the beauty, the body, the voice, and the slick radio-friendly cuts that it takes to compete with today’s top R&B divas. She even has a sultry song her CD called "Slow Dance" that was co-written by Timberlake. So what’s it going to take to make her CD a hit? If the answer is as simple as a sexy video with J.T., would they please hurry up and make that happen ASAP?
Pearl Jam's 'Ten' reissue: Snap judgment... or not
I got home from SXSW last night and drove straight from the airport to the office to pick up my copy of the "Super Deluxe" Ten reissue — which was released today in a variety of different complexities — and then drove straight home to devour it, without so much as collecting dinner or bothering to take my suitcase out of the car. And here is my snap judgment:
I can’t make a snap judgment on this! WTF are you talking about? In my possession I now have the original remastered version of Ten, a remixed version from Brendan O’Brien that includes a bunch of bonus tracks, a demo cassette, a wax paper packet of photos and stickers and ticket replicas, a composition notebook that serves as a photo album, a DVD of the band’s MTV Unplugged show, and three vinyl LPs, including the 1992 Drop in the Park concert. The record sleeve for the latter depicts Vedder soaring over a flannel-drenched crowd. I spent 20 minutes staring at it last night. I also spent most of my week in Texas driving around with the O’Brien remix advance in the car stereo, and am still finding new and exciting tweaks to these songs I’ve known for half my life. Absorbing all of this is going to take some time.
Additionally — and perhaps more shamefully* — I don’t own a record player, and neither Best Buy nor my local music equipment store were able to sell me one this morning. (Apparently the only people still in the market for turntables are DJs, and I do not require the technology for "scratching.") So while I wait for a Craigslist transaction to go through in order to properly review this thing, I open the floor to you, M-Dubs: Who’s got a copy? Who’s got an opinion? Share it in the comments! And meanwhile, check out this phenomenal hip-hop cover of “Why Go,” which incorporates nearly everything this post was about!
*please do not take the time to write in just to troll me for not owning a record player. I KNOW. and I’d make excuses, but whatever. the situation is being rectified. thank you for understanding.
Fergie's underwear: How much would you pay?
There are some celebrity-themed items I can understand collecting: autographed albums, sure. Signed t-shirts, definitely. But, underwear? Seriously? A coalition of 37 assorted celebrities, including Fergie, are auctioning off their autographed skivvies on eBay to benefit a charity in support of destitute asylum seekers. NME posted the official list, and it includes everyone from Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker (the leading bid-getter thus far) to Oscar-winning thespians Emma Thompson, Daniel Day-Lewis and Helen Mirren. While certainly odd, hundreds of thousands of asylum seekers are living in extreme poverty in the U.K., and if it takes selling underwear to help them out, then so be it. But, it does beg the question: how much would you pay for Fergie’s underwear? Name your price!

My Chemical Romance's Gerard Way wants a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am...and he wants it now!
My Chemical Romance’s lead singer has been broadcasting his desire to own a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am on Twitter and on the band’s website. Frontman Gerard Way says he needs the car for "research and exploration." Requirements? "First and foremost, I want a good car," Way wrote. "It doesn’t have to be great, itdoesn’t need to have been kept in an airtight garage for 30 years, butI would prefer something that’s not a piece of s—. I would like it tobe in California, close to or within the greater Los Angeles area. Iwould also like ‘the fast engine’ to show you how much I know aboutcars, though I have friends with vast automotive knowledge, and myfather was a mechanic when I was a child." He also lists the exterior colors he desires (in order of awesome), adding, "I am open to other things but I absolutely do not want Gold, Brown, orthat frigging Smokey and The Bandit car- that s— is whack."
So what do you think of Way’s appeal? Anyone out there willing to sell Gerard your 1979 Pontiac Trans Am?
Phil Spector: A 'Demonic Maniac'?

Legendary music producer Phil Spector was described as a “demonic maniac” by a prosecutor yesterday at his retrial for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson. According to billboard.com, Deputy District Attorney Truc Do also said, in her closing argument, that “this case is about a man who has had a history of playing Russian roulette with the lives of women. Five women got the empty chamber. Lana got the sixth bullet.” Doron Weinberg, the defense attorney representing Spector, was expected to give his closing argument today.

Current listening: The Fray's Isaac Slade
These are busy times for platinum-selling band the Fray, who released their eponymous second album last month, just filmed the video for new single "Never Say Never," and will hit the road for a lengthy US tour this summer. But singer Isaac Slade found time to tell us what music he’s been checking out. "I’ve been listening to the last Elbow album and Imogen Heap and (late jazz singer) Blossom Dearie," he says. "I actually checked my iTunes the other day because it tells you what you’ve played the most, and the most played for the last two years was Blossom Dearie. I love her, she just recently passed away."
Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent: A sneak peek at their mysterious new video
Here’s what Interscope is willing to tell us about the snapshot they just released of a dapper-looking Eminem, Dr. Dre, and 50 Cent playing high-stakes cards. It was taken at Las Vegas’ Palms Casino, where the trio was shooting a video for the first single off of Em’s long-awaited Relapse album. That single is not "Crack a Bottle." The video will likely be out in early April, a month or so before Relapse‘s May 19 release. And…that’s about it. The label is keeping mum otherwise. But you know what they say about pictures, a thousand words, and all that, right? Just seeing those three back in action is enough to intrigue me. How about you?
UPDATE: Interscope allowed us another morsel of information about this video on Tuesday: The Eminem single is called "We Made You."
