(C)rap should not belong there. Especially since they are leaving out Rush, the Stooges, and so many great rock artist out. Plus they are leaving out the great early artist who made it possibly for rock to exist. Pick (C)rap artist over them. Sad.
Maybe the reason that none of Hetfield’s favorite bands arent in the Rock -n- Roll hall of Fame is because many of those bands either sucked (KISS, Styx) Were all style and no substance (Alice Cooper, Yes)
and only did one great album (Rush, Deep Purple) but that’s too much like common sense for the “WHITEBOY ROCK BRIGADE”. Rock-n-Roll as explained in various dictionaries is Gospel, Jazz, Boogie Woogie, Country, Folk, Rhythm-n- Blues, Jump Blues, Chicago Blues and Swing Music with various other genres added as the music evolved.
Run-DMC deserves induction because they pionnered “golden age” hip- hop culture and helped spread it around the world, and released 4 landmark albums in 6 years. I am tired of White Boy rockers complaining every year that “ROCK” means white British Invasion music since 1964 when it is a fusion of mostly African- American Music with Country and Folk elements.
The Hall has biases against Black Music created after 1970, Hard Rock and Punk.
How about Paul Revere and the Raiders? At a time when the British Invasion was dominating the airwaves, the Raiders held their own with several hits and two # 1 albums. Their contribution to music is as follows:

No Rush..No Journey..No Kiss..No Foreigner..No Boston…I mean I could go on all day long with the bands not in there. Have ANY of the voting members not listened to a rock radio station over the last 25-30 years? Those bands are on them 24/7 and not in the hall of fame. Between just those bands alone you have about 500 million records sold world wide and probably at the very least 100 solid if not more hits.
Well, yeah Metallica is in there because they are the greatest rock band ever. And by the way, where is Tool in this conversation??
What about Genesis,Warren Zevon, Beastie boys, Kiss, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Iggy f##@@ing Pop. The list is endless. This year’s inductees are worthy and hopefully will open the door for a larger variety of performers.
The fact that run dmc is inducted before the greatest musicians of all time… RUSH…is an insult. Whoever decides these inducties should really get their head out of their ass. And if i don’t see tool inducted soon i may have to burn the building to the ground. shame.
