Jamie Foxx's Miley Cyrus tirade on Sirius: Too much?

Tagged:

Jamiefoxxcyrus_lYou may know him now as the affable Oscar-winner/R&B star who gets buddies like Jake Gyllenhaal and Ron Howard to appear in his music videos. Many forget, though, that Jamie Foxx got his start on the far-raunchy spectrum of stand-up comedy.

The guy who once banked on a more dangerous brand of humor (see his turn on the boundary-goosing ’90s sketch show In Living Color) was in full effect yesterday on his Sirius radio show, Foxxhole — ripping into teen superstar and current box office queen Miley Cyrus in a brief, expletive-laced segment.

The catalyst? A caller singling out Cyrus’s recent displeasure with indie-rock demigods Radiohead, who refused to meet her backstage at this year’s Grammys (she later threatened on another syndicated radio show to "ruin them.") Foxx responds incredulously, "Who is Miley Cyrus? She’s gonna ruin Radiohead’s career? The same Radiohead that gets paid a million dollars just to sample their songs?"

Cyrus, he goes on to say in an obviously jesting but possibly defamatory riff, should "make a sex tape and grow up. Get like Britney Spears and do some heroin. Do like Lindsay Lohan and start seeing a lesbian and get some crack in your pipe. Catch chlamydia on a bicycle seat…"That’s what I want." Cubicle dwellers, grab your headphones for the full and very NSFW clip after the jump:

Granted, this would all be tiny potatoes were it not for the status of both stars — Foxx has a highly touted film, The Soloist, due out later this month, and Cyrus is quite possibly the most famous 16-year-old on the planet right now. But words said in a dank comedy-club basement are, like it or not, not the same as those heard instantly ’round the high-speed-connection universe.

What do you think, readers? Does Miley’s public figure-dom trump her age, or was Foxx out of line? Is this kind of humor meant to have a platform on a free-speech outlet like Sirius, or does he owe her a public apology? Will this effect how you feel about buying the music or going to see the films of either artist?

I’m surprised you would even question whether it’s “too much”. “Make a sex tape and grow up”??

I always thought Miley was sort of joking about the Radiohead ruining thing, but even if she wasn’t, this is out of line. Telling a 16 year old girl that she should make a sex tape and do drugs is a little sick. He may have been joking as well, but some things are not okay to joke about.

Man, I can’t wait until Miley Cyrus inevitably goes apeshit. I got all excited when there were those rumors that she was trying to get emancipated from her parents, but alas, it was a false alarm. You and I share one dream, Jamie Foxx.

I think it’s hilarious. If Miley Cyrus is going to pulls her eyes back to mock Asian people and say that she’s going to ruin Radiohead (who have had a career longer than she’s been alive), I don’t see why Jamie Foxx can’t be sarcastic.

The tragically hip wallowing in sex and drugs….

I think he went too far. She is a child trying to be in a grown up world. Or maybe from the looks of his comments shes closer to being an adult than him. I personally will not be going to see his movie and if I do see it as a rental it will be from the Redbox dollar rental.

I hope that there is incredible outrage. I can’t believe that an adult with a teenage daughter of his own would say those kinds of things.
I have been looking forward to seeing the soloist, now I think I will hold off from seeing it.

hahaha……..Good ole Jamie Foxx being jealous of a 16 year old. Who is Miley Cyrus he asks? Just turn to any freaking TV channel, or any store and you’ll see who she is. I like Jamie Fox, but his tirade was just pure stupid and unfunny. I don’t really like Miley and don’t have any use for her music or TV shows. But she is ultra rich. She could easily be worth more than Foxx, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit, and she’s only 16…..she has her whole career ahead of her……

Um… seriously. If you don’t like what he says, don’t listen.
    This isn’t public airwaves, people!
Of course, I laugh that a sixteen year old carbon copy is going to try and ruin a brilliantly original group. Good luck, princess.

I like him a lot more now!

Why would a grown man attack a 16 year old girl, so publicly, and so violently? Mr. Fox’s marketing stock is right up there with Chris Brown. Verbal assault is still assault. I hope Producers are taking notes, because the public is and even if you don’t like the Miley Machine, like me, you really need to keep in mind there is a 16 year old girl involved and keep things in perspective.

  • juju

hell yeah! That racist b!tch had it coming.

  • bekki

If Miley can mock Asians and blow it off as “just a joke” then she’d better be able to appreciate the humor when others mock her. Obviously, Jamie just decided to call her out since she thinks she’s above all others. She thinks she’s going to “ruin” Radiohead? Good luck, Ms. Thang. The people who actually care about Radiohead couldn’t give a crap about you.

    DAMN!

Jamie Foxx is an excellent comedian and owes no apology for stating his opinion to Miley’s behavior at the Grammys. If she indeed made the idiotic comment about ruining Radiohead’s career, she deserves such a reaction.
