Neil Young is still making good albums. As for his sales EW isn’t exactly helping his cause. In fact you are making it hard for him to work. For a different critical perspective try Robert Christgau who likes his recent work. Also I’ve heard all three albums and Fork in the Road is better than recent albums by Springsteen and U2 which EW gave A’s to. Talk about underrated. People need the relisten to Fork in the Road with open ears. You need to wade through that thicket of grunge guitar to find the art within. Its there. Believe me.
If you have minimally perceptive for at least 5 years, you know that the Billboard chart has nothing to do with musical quality. Imagine buying music based upon what cds top the billboard chart. You would have the sorriest collection of music imaginable.
Whether or not you happen to like his music, Neil Young is an important artist whose musical integrity has been repeatedly demonstrated. Those qualities have nothing to do with Billboard magazine.
What do Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, Milli Vanilli, Kelly Clarkson, Backstreet Boys, ‘N Sync, Ricky Martin, and Kenny G all have in common?
They all topped the Billboard Chart!
Oh, and each one either is or will be someone that you are embarrassed to admit that you liked.
