I would like to see this ’1 Billion’ rubbish.
Elvis was a ‘Single’ hit maker, his albums were unknown due to the FILLER in everyone of them…Image is what sold him same as a Madonna of today got by on image. Pretty boy with a good vocie, musically? He wouldn’t even be in the Top 20.
The Beatles fair play they had they made their mark of course…But are vastly over-rated. Just because someone SELLS so many records does not been their talent for E.G Justin Timberlake has probably sold more records then B.B King. Doesn’t make him more talented?
Elvis Presley totally recolutionised popular music and culture in the 1950′s. Everyone from Buddy Holly to the Beatles, from the Who to Led Zeppelin have been influenced by him. I do not think that any of the cultural musical icons of the 20th century were influenced by Jackson. Timberlake, Chirs Rock, Akon, etc, maybe. But nobody of any real worth. Elvis remains the greatest solo artist in history because he is just that. The Beatles are now part of the education system of music and their place in history is secured. As for Jackson lastest concerts, there are still plenty of tickets available through agencies. A couple of years ago there were 20 million applications for Led Zeppelin. Imagine if Elvis was still alive or the Beatles were all alive and made a comeback. Jackson is old and boring. Very, very boring.
You are right>>>my friends got tickets for Jackson last week from an agency in London. There are loads left over. The touts and agents got many of them. I don’t dislike Jackson but I can see how his fans can annoy real music fans when they say silly things like comparing him to Elvis or the Beatles. There is no comparison. Elvis and the Beatles are the biggest and most influential artists in history. The reason they sold so many records is because so many millions fo people love them.
I agree, being the most popular does not mean the best. I hate ‘Thriller’. I really do. I think it is a rubbish album. My taste is for ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’. Now that is a great album. I do not rate Jackson. But I do rate Elvis and the Beatles. Jackson is not my taste in music. Too poppy and without any real substance.
it all really depends your taste. what black person actually listened to a elvis record. bottom line is elvis either stole or got everything he knew from a black person and so did the beatles. so what did elvis do that was so great. nothing! case closed.
There were alot of black entertainers who were alot more influential then Elvis Preseley. Why hasn’t anyone mentioned his Musical Ability in this disucssion? Good Voice? Yes anything else no? He had the right manage a some good ghost writers.
It’s a media preception that has carried him on. REAL music fans some other post said I think they all were Elvis technical ability was. I’m not dissing Elvis fair play to the chap, i’m on about his Musical Ability when looked at he WAS over-rated.
Sorry but people make me laugh when they say Elvis was the best solo artist ever. His voice was nothing to shout about…but I will admit that he did record a couple of good songs.
I never got into him or his music. Infact, I daresay I loathed him with a passion.
As for the Beatles, well they were good, but over-rated.
Madonna is now considered to be rated alongside those “Legends” now and look how much talent she has “Sniggers”
She can’t dance, she can’t sing, yet she’s placed up their with the others.
Go figure.
elvis was going down the drain before death rescued his pathetic image and the beatles,oh yes, its already mentioned mj owns half of their best records, the reality is that no one has ever influenced music like mj,absolutely no one, mention 3 top musicians influenced by elvis or the overrated beatles their fans are merely devoid of logic and are trapped in an illusionary world, try harder.

I guess it was…
Guess we know he wasn’t well enough to finish the rehearsals…In the end the Coroner reports his weight at 112 lbs and height of 5’11. Now that is Seriously Anorexic..RIP MJ.
