CMT Music Awards moved to June 16; Keith Urban, Sugarland added as performers

KeithUrban_lThe 2009 CMT Music Awards — honoring the best in country music video-making — have been pushed up a day, from Wednesday, June 17, to Tuesday, June 16. Reps for the network won’t directly confirm that the addition of Keith Urban and Sugarland to the roster of performers had anything to do with the date change, but it’s a safe bet: both acts have a tour date scheduled in South Carolina on the 17th.CMT has also added Def Leppard to the bill — one can only hope they’ll reprise their Crossroads appearance with the unavoidable Taylor Swift, which was literally the least objectionable thing she did last year — alongside Toby Keith, Brad Paisley, and Rascal Flatts. More performers are expected to sign on as the date gets closer.Meanwhile, fan voting is now open for the awards themselves, with Sugarland’s six nominations leading the pack. Anyone out there planning to participate? Who’s your pick to win it all? And who else would you like to see added to the lineup?

I am glad to see Keith Urban and Toby Keith both there, but to be totally honest I don’t get all the hype for Taylor Swift she sings off key, sorry but its true, and her tickets here are going for over $4hundred a pop. Both Kenny Chesney and George Strait are playing the Stampede as well neither are asking those ridiculous prices, the funny thing is she isn’t doing so well in sales she might play to an empty stadium, we sure won’t be there, its ridiculous these kids just vote over and over for her and she thinks oh wow I won……….not in our opo. Thanks

Whitney, please stop hating on Taylor. Everyone has got an opinion and you’re entitled to yours but when you put things like that in something that should be just a short blurb to let people know when to catch something on TV, it’s offensive. Yes I’m a Taylor fanatic and no I’m not a 12 year old girl. I’m a married 25 year old who thinks her songs are great and loves the way she presents herself. You can write all the things you want to about Taylor when you’re critiquing a performance or album but leave the hating out of the general posts. Thanks!

And by the way, I just went to a Taylor concert in St. Louis, paid only $50/ticket which is reasonable today and she played to a sold out stadium to about 18,000 fans (young and old, boys and girls). Just thought I’d share!
