Ah, mullets. That mystical hair-style that dare not speak its name. Kanye West had been sporting an angry-looking one in recent months, and it is with great sadness, dear readers, that I am writing to inform you of the music world’s latest victim: Elliott Yamin. In his just-released "Fight For Love" video — off his album of the same name that’s due May 5 — the American Idol castoff has a hot mess on top of his head, and it is all kinds of unfortunate. Watch the video below and you’ll notice we never even get a decent look at it, almost like the video’s director purposely tried to spare us. A mullet mercy kill, if you will. The worst part is it’s not even a full mullet. It’s obviously quite kempt and styled. If you’re gonna rock the mullet, go all the way. Like Rod Stewart, or Joe Dirt. Yamin’s looks too A.C. Slater-ish.
Anyway, I’d be remiss not to mention the song, which is actually pretty good. Yamin’s a great singer, and the innocuous "Fight For Love" has a catchy-enough chorus. But. That. Hair. It bothers me. You too, Mixers? Who are some people you think can actually pull off a mullet? Do people like that even exist?

Why’d you have to point this out!? Elliott’s one of my favorite contestants to hit the Idol stage, and his music is fantastic. I just listened to Fight for Love in the car today. But I will never watch this video again.
Elliott’s goofiness has always been part of his charm. His awesome voice and humble personality more than make up for any unfortunate hair choices. I think he’s adorable. If I weren’t married, Elliott would probably have a restraining order out on me by now!
Richard Dean Anderson pulled off the mullet pretty well.
Love Elliot, and always will, regardless of his hair. Still, very unfortunate hairdo. Excellent song.
Love the song. Hate the mullet.
You must be too young to remember real mullets. His hair is combed back, not cut short, on the sides. That’s more a ’50′s do, like Elvis.
Elliott’s music is great no matter what hair style.
I love Elliott and he looks pretty good from the neck down, but that mullet is far from the only cheesy thing about this music video.
A Mullet…why Elliott? Why?
JS is correct..no mullet..Elliott’s hair is combed back on the sides not cut short..any ways his hair really doesn’t matter I love him just the way he is and his music is to die for…I will continue watching this video over and over..
Love the song – mullet, dreadlocks, bald, who cares, lol. It’s all about the voice and he got some pipes!!!
Know the difference between Elliott and Kanye??? Elliott can actually sing. BTW: It’s no mullet.
I don’t know if I’d call it a mullet, but it certainly is a crying shame considering how sexy his natural loose curls are. Stay away from the gel, Elliott, and keep singing!
You gotta be kidding me…it’s a FAUXHAWK! And Elliott is the MAN!
Sweet video. And I think I like the hair. It’s kind of punk!
I agree, it looks more like a faux-hawk to me. Can’t wait to buy the CD tomorrow!
