U2 has unveiled a brand spankin’ new video for "Magnificent," their second single off the band’s No Line on the Horizon, which finally rings the much-needed death knell for terrible lead-off song "Get On Your Boots."
The scenic Moroccan setting has some lovely sun-drenched imagery, complementing the tune very well I think. Are you into it? And Stereogum says a will.i.am remix of the song will drop soon. What in the world will that sound like?

It is too bad that U2 used such a lame and annoying lead-off single. Despite this song, I’m not even going to bother with them on this release. I used to buy their releases on the day they came out. They warp-speeded straight into indifference in no time. At least they can probably buy a mansion from the Edge when he gets around to destroying some landscape for more bucks. I can’t pinpoint it, but U2 really does feel as if it has jumped the shark and they appear lesser now.
What is so terrible about “Get on Your Boots”? It’s not one of their best singles ever, but it’s a catchy song and I like it. With all of the crap that’s out there nowadays, you think that’s a bad song??
Carrie, yes, I think it is a bad song. And I agree, there is a lot of crap out there. It is just unfortunate that U2 added to the pile.
I love, love, love this song. I hope it’s still a success even though many people have shifted focus away from the album.
I wasn’t actually speaking to you, Officer Farva. I hadn’t even read your comment before I posted mine. Everyone has their own opinion, but I personally don’t think U2 ever releases anything that can actually be labeled as crappy or terrible. They are so much more talented than 90% of the ‘artists’ out there.
“Magnificent” kind of reminds me of Echo and the Bunnymen and the very begining sounds like “Escalator of Life” by Robert Hazzard and the Heroes from about twenty-seven years ago. Eh, it’s ok just like U2 these days…it’s the first time ever that I did not buy a U2 CD. I guess I’m very underwhelmed by their supposed “fresh” sound. Kind of sad…they used to be cool. Also, exactly when did Bono morph into Robin Williams?
Just like Tom Petty, it seemed for a while that U2 could not put out anything crappy or terrible. Well, U2 have their “Last DJ”. They have finally made a completely forgettable album. The fact they are better than most still does not mean they cannot be crappy or terrible in their own right.
I really like this song, though I was hoping the title track would be the next single. It’s my favorite. “Get On Your Boots” is probably my least favorite song on the album, although U2′s worst still beats the best of a lot of other artists in my opinion. I think this album is a little closer to classic U2 than their last one.
I love this song and I also rate their recent album highly, it is definitely a grower and needs to be listened to numerous times.
I agree, there is alot of crap out there, but U2 are not, they are still better than most!
I never liked U2 except for maybe a sort of Psychodelic live pc I have heard here and there… But this dammit is a song for anyone that has every had true love… Especially for those of us that lost it for various reasons and have to live in the prison we created for ourselves…. I wish i would of wrote this and had a chance to sing it to you E…..
Here we go with the usual bullcrap comments of “supposed” U2 fans who pretend they liked U2 but really never liked them, the truth of the matter is if you go on any U2 fan related websites they all have come to the consensus that “No Line On The Horizon” is U2′s best album this decade…the previous two U2 albums may have had the big hits on them, but they were weaker albums whereas this album may not have the standout “hit” but it works as a collection of strong songs….a “proper” album.
