Eminem's 'Relapse' leaks: Are you going to listen?

Tagged: ,

Eminem_lIt’s nearly inevitable at this point that any high-profile album will leak to the Internet at least a week or two before its official release date, so no one should be surprised to hear that Eminem’s Relapse made its way online last night. Interscope managed to keep this thing under wraps until 12 days before its May 19 drop date, which is actually pretty impressive. Anyway, far be it from us at the Music Mix to encourage you to illegally download leaked music, but let’s just say that Relapse is out there for anyone who knows how to use Google.

It’s obviously way too early to give a considered opinion of this album, but I can say that if you were praying for Em to return to his most shocking, offensive extremes, Relapse just might be a wish come true. You’ve got "Bagpipes from Baghdad," in which Em says some pretty raw stuff about his ex(?) Mariah Carey and her new husband Nick Cannon. Then there’s "Insane," where he graphically describes being allegedly sexually abused by his stepfather. Or maybe you’d prefer "My Mom," which sticks to the more familiar territory of detailing his mother’s alleged drug binges? It’s all very intense stuff, delivered via some of Em’s slipperiest flows in years.

That’s all I’m saying for now. I’ll have to take a few more listens before deciding where Relapse stands in Eminem’s catalog. How about you, Em fans? Are you tempted to listen to the Relapse leak, or will you wait til the 19th? And if you’ve already broken down and checked it out, how do you think it stacks up?

Pure Fire. This album is definitely one of his best – if not the best. Em is back!

I’ve listened to the whole album twice, instead of buying a copy on 5/19 I’m buying 2…It’s that good.

  • The Truth

WAY better than i expected, and i expected quite a bit. if i had the money, i would buy 2

The album is amazing. After hearing the singles I thought it was going to be pretty terrible. The songs are all great, and he raps just as brutal as he used to!

Listen, I didn’t like 3AM, and We Made You was ok, but the album itself, damn, its some of his best. Im a harcore Em fan, one who swears by his Infinite album and his first LP’s. Relapse stacks up, I forgot what perfection sounded like.

man i’ve been listenin to this album since last night, the last song on it (“underground”) is amazing, and they are right when they say he is back on his ronchy stuff again, i feel bad listening to it before it comes out but it doesnt matter because I’m buying two as soon as the store opens on 5/19

I’m buying 3 copies as soon as it comes out.

Yeah its extreme, drugs, incest, rape, all that. Production is v. good. Its interesting, especially voice clips. Dunno what other people will make of it, my fav tune is beautiful.

I want to figure out who convinced Eminem that his normal voice wasn’t good, and he should add an accent to it. Because that accent needs to go.
So far, I like it. Beautiful is the best song in my opinion, the chorus is amazing.
    Underground is classic em.
Medicine Ball has a great beat.
Nice hearing Dominic West intro the album.

After hearing most of his singles coming out with this “accent” of ass like me; I thought he didn’t have it in him to release anything simialr to the Slim Shady & Marshall Manthers LP…but god damn I was so wrong. This is the perfect mix of his sick witted, wild, over the top outragously crazy lyrics with up to date slightly underground dre beats. I was very shocked and think it’s clever eminem released songs with an accent because it made more fans want to find out about the album. I’d say his best album to date suprisngly as the Marshall Manthers LP was very hard to beat. classic and can’t wait till relapse 2….maybe it might get leaked before the first one :) !!!…but I’ll defiently be giving him my money on this album!!!!!

THis is so FIRE…..Thank you for another great album….Should I cut of my ear and mail it him? the word play is rediculouse…..very dark…takes me back

This guy’s new album is a collection of raping women, bashing homosexuals, and murdering girls. Too bad there’s nothing here that’s cutting edge or novel. It’s just a bag of words intended to shock us, except it’s not really shocking, more like a case of two hour food poisoning.
    No thanks.
