The Jonas Brothers’ new song: Like, OMG, you guys, it kind of rocks?!

Oh, those precious little Jonas Brothers. Their movie may have bombed, and their TV show debuted to only solid, not spectacular ratings, but the heartthrobs aren’t letting that deter them on their quest for World Domination.

Next up? New single “Paranoid,” the lead-off track from their new album, Lines, Vines and Trying Times, out June 15. When the JoBros said they wanted to go in a harder rock direction (and name-dropped bands like Kings of Leon and the Zutons), I sort of laughed it off. Judging from the surprisingly good (great?) first single, it looks like they may have succeeded — in their own Disney make-believe rock star kind of way, of course.

Listen below and share your thoughts: Could “Paranoid” be a contender for song of the summer? Or am I on glue? And who is the song about — Miley? Taylor? Some other girl we don’t care about who’s not nearly as famous?

  • Gonzalo

Huh, you’re right. It is surprisingly not that awful. It does make you want to jump around a little bit :)

Nothing like talking out of both sides of your mouth. Why not just say the song is good and leave it at that? Is the mockery really necessary? Why are you so threatened? Lighten up, dude.

i agree celeste. this song is just as bad as all the otehrs

I just really don’t like their voices. Pass!

I like it, but I wish they’d lose the hokey ’80’s keyboards that dragged down “A Little Bit Longer” too. JB sounds much better on live tracks because that hideous keyboard isn’t as prominent. This will be a hit, by the way.

I think it’s a good song. It’s catchy and maybe a little more mature than the others, so let’s give them a chance.
Obviously they aren’t the best band in the world, but they aren’t the worst either….

I think it’s pretty good, and I’m not a kid. It’s catchy and fun. It’s sure to be a hit. Some of you folks need to lighten up and think happy thoughts once in awhile.

As a song, it is really good. As a first single, however, a bad idea. The song isn’t in any way fun or bubbling with anticipation, features no real range or pick up in the melody, it stays monotone through out the entire song. It makes a good song, but as far as singles go, I doubt this will be a hit for anyone other than the already devoted fans. But the song is really good, and I can’t wait for more tracks from our favorite band!

LOVE IT! It makes you want to get up and dance. I don’t think mainstream radio gives the JB a fair shake. They were a band before Disney came along. A lot of people have blinders up…as soon as they hear “Jonas Brothers” they assume it’s just for teens. That’s not true. I’m 39 and love their music and have plenty of friends that would say the same. Great job guys!

im impressed. i REALLY like the vibe. keep it up!
people need to chill and give these guys a chance.
im definetely looking into their next album.

  • luis

not bad. i sorta like it…oh boy.

I like this song (and I’m not a little girl obsessed with the JB). It’s catchy, maybe not their best song, but it makes me want to hear the rest of the CD.

I think it could be a great tune–if covered by someone other than the Jonas Bros. There’s this “straining thing” in his voice (I’m not sure which one sings) that just bugs me (or maybe not his voice, exactly, but the way in which he tacks that affectation on to the end of every line of the lyrics.

Rock’s and TJB’s do not belong in the same sentence. This song is far from Rock-n-Roll.
