When Billboard broke the news this morning that Queen and Paul Rodgers would be going their separate ways, it was hard not to think, "Well, Read the full post.

No on Adam. I always thought (and still do) that George Michael would have made a great, great replacement to Freddie Mercury. His “Somebody to Love” at FM’s tribute concert was something to behold!

Freddie had 1 of the best voices in music (range, tone,…) and Lambert is ok but no way in same league. Someone below mentioned George Michael who would be a better choice. No one can replace Robert Plant but Ann Wilson (Heart)would be a better choice. I’d pay to see her perform all Zepplin songs. Heart covers alot of Zepplin already.

Adam Lambert could sing ANYTHING he wants and sound perfect! He has proven that this entire season! He could sing “Old Macdonald had a farm” and sweep us off our feet! That dude is going places, Big Time!

I’d love to see Adam do a show or two with Queen and/or Led Zepplin, but joining either group permanently would be limiting for him. He can and should sing any style of music he wants to, should definitely be a headliner on Broadway and in Vegas and could sell out arenas as a solo act or as part of the group. To be honest, I think winning Idol and having to become a cog in that machine might be something he will need to overcome in the future. Adam just needed to get on TV, much like Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson, although neither of them can be compared to him vocally. A talent this size just doesn’t come along very often. I actually thought he out-sang Robert Plant by a mile, though last night’s top performance was Kris’ “Heartless.”

    George Michael for anything Really!!!
Sorry Adam can sing anything and put his own special thing to it. Proven, week after week. And though I fear he wont make the final because everyone is talking him up, I hope it does. I can not wait for his performance each week. I loved Freddie Mercury but Adam would make a good solid member of Queen.

NO Way – Well aren’t you just a lovely little homophobic bigot.
If you don’t like Adam’s singing, that’s just fine. Then say that. But to bring up his sexuality just tells me all I need to know about you, and none of it is good.
    In short, you’re an ass.

  • Hello Hello

I haven’t heard a singer as good as Freddy Mercury until Adam Lambert. He’s about the only person who could do Mercury’s songs justice. However, I would rather Adam forge a his own career and I have no doubt that we will someday talk about “classic” Adam Lambert songs just as we talk about Mercury classics today. Both men are in the same league.

  • LOL

NO WAY apparently knows not a single thing about the history of Queen or it’s former rock god front man, Freddie Mercury. LOL Way to show pure ignorance, dude! But, thanks for the LOLZ~

Adam Lambert is going to be a legend a name everyone in the world knows He is the most amazing artist thats come around in a long time He can do amnything

It is just truly amazing how many people here do not anything about the human singing voice….A host of opera directors(some in articles today on line) have praised Adam’s
voice control and his ability for those high notes…..Go back and listen to “Brigadoon” the whole
4 minutes and then you will hear
total pitch and voice control in
    the highest octave by Adam…Where
were all of you when he did Tracks of my Tears, Mad World/Studio Version,
If I Can’t Have You??????? try listening to “The Ten Commandments”
when he sings Is Anybody Listening..
Then tell me he is screaming…get educated people..or just don’t comment
to us who are in the know!!!!!

Adam is going to be a MEGA star. He needs to do his own thing with his own band. He doesn’t need Queen or any other band to make a name for himself, he is the whole package.

I totally agree with “Maggie Mae”. Adam has complete control over his higher register. He is always on key and the way he can sustain a run of complicated notes, all in one breath is unbelievable. ***I really enjoy the emotional content and feeling he brings to songs like Mad World, Joshua, Black and White, Dust in the Wind, Brigadoon, etc. SEE “Dust in the Wind”:
    http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=18961771
    AND from “Brigadoon”: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJYyqzUr6jU&feature=related ***
In his second song last night, the back up vocals were off key and out of sync, but Adam was able to continue without dropping a note (though it fuzzed the overall effect of the song). ***As for being a lead singer for ANY band, it is too late for that. Whether Adam wins AI or not, he will be an international star in any venue he chooses. This is the break he has needed and he has the experience and maturity to take full advantage of it.

so in addition to a promising solo career, it’s been suggested that Lambert could front and of the three bands: Velvet Revolver, Led Zeppelin, and Queen. But rather than Velvet Revolver’s lineup, I would rather see him play with the original members of GnR not named Axl (Slash, Izzy, Duff, and Steve) and see how that record sells compared to Chinese Democracy….lol

i think George Michael would be a fantastic replacement..shoot..even Brian May said he rocked “somebody to love”!!! Not that george ever would take the gig,but i think he would be the best replacement. I am sure that freddie was looking down on him that day and smiling from ear to ear!

  • del

Of course Adam ~could~ vocally do this, but I think he’s more interested in being his own unique self with his own career. I think Adam would be flattered if someone asked him to sing with them but I don’t think he would be interested in stepping into the shadow of a deceased Icon. Just my opinion! :)
I think Queen should have died with Freddie. I think INXS should have died with Michael Hutchence. I find it somehow disrespectful for these bands to carry on without these charismatic front men. Freddie WAS Queen. Michael WAS INXS. Have some respect. <3
