They were doing fine individually (not like they were starving)but by standards of what they did together it wasn’t even close. Most bands that make it big break up because they all think they have the creative talent to make projet work alone. But, as is the case here, the bands reunites after they discover that the synergy they had together was the key. However, in most cases it is too late to get the power back. Lets face it, the window of oppurtunity for poop jokes and 3 chord pop music isn’t into your 40′s. This is probably their last chance and they’ll milk it. I think you could see it in Mark and Tom’s face that they couldn’t even really take themselves serioulsy (they looked a little sheepish). After all, doesn’t the Rawk Show song refernce a 17-year old’s feelings? Kind of odd for a 36-year old. It’s fun to see them back together, but just try and imagine going back and really enjoying some of your immature hobbies from 10 years ago – it wouldn’t be the same.
It was very obvious that Travis and Mark still have a strong connection. Tom did not seem happy to be there. One of the draws of Blink was they were buddies onstage, it was fun to watch them play off each other. Maybe they can put aside their differences and really give us a rock show!
As for their individual careers, Travis is doing great with DJ AM, his clothing lines, and other projects. As are Mark and Tom. This does not seem to be a try to relive glory days, they are still living them!
Tom looked really nervous… I think they just need some more time to get back into it and they will be fine. I have heard nothing but great things from the live show.
“Well actually, Buddy Holly played a Fender Stratocastor!” Really? I was using it as a reference, since it is not what I am use to seeing them play. Admit it, it sounded like operatic crap. Maybe you were watching the wrong show, Brendan.
How can Mark Hoppus’ voice be out of practice when he has been singing in +44?
in “All the Small Things” Tom Delonge sounds like an old man… Travis and Mark are still bad A’s. but i love blink!!!
no doubt his voice sucks. I mean come on Mark still sings like in the old days why can’t Tom? My guess is just he doesn’t want to. But if he doesn’t change that…there’s no way their reunion is going to succeed as they expect. it can be huge…..only if Tom sings like before
I don’t agree with some of you who said that tom’s voice now sucks.
I’m a singer in a band (and I go to singing lessons) and what thing that I can tell you is that tom’s way to sing is much more healthy and correct than before. He must have changed it during the AVA-times and now he has brought his new singing technique also in blink-182. It’s not a bad think to me, honestly, I like his voice now (though I’ve always loved his voice the way it was).
tom needs to sing normal. He sounds like a fag
Tom’s voice was weird in this one. but who knows, could be the best next time.
yeah it was wicked i loved it
come on i love blink but it will be to diffrent if tom sings this way, it sucks, he voiced rocked before. he needs to sings the way before even if it isnt healthy for him
I didn’t catch their appearence on Jay but I will be YouTube-ing it later on tonight.
Indeed I still love all the old songs and I am going to see them in Dallas. I will sing along to all their songs about being young, not caring, and girls. — I for one also hope Blinks new cd will be matured. —
I’m a fan of Tom’s Angels and Airwaves project. His music was catchy and inspiring at the same time. I would listen to it over and over.
I want Blinks new music to have more purpose. To Inspire. To talk about more than just how it was when I was 16. I grew up, got married, got a job and care about totally different things now. I’d like to think the things Tom, Travis, and Mark care about have changed aswell.
Please Blink, Use your music while you have so many peoples’ ears. So many are listening. Inspire us. Make your music stay with us..
(but don’t be a Green day and rant about the Government… Thats just lame)
