I was at Stella McCartney's Paris fashion show with the vice president of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, Paul McCartney and Kanye West. The entire time Kanye is going, 'They need more fur in this show.' He just wouldn't shut up about how he loved fur. I mean, he's saying this to me, the PETA guy and Paul McCartney! I was just so grossed out by him. I'm like, 'You're an idiot!' There are so many people who I think are a waste of skin and he's up there. I should wear him. Go on, donate yourself Kanye. People can wear your fur."
Ouch. No doubt this was a total faux pas on Kanye's part, assuming this all went down the way Pink remembers it, but that's one harsh response. (Really, Pink, a Kanye skin-suit? Go Pink! I respect Kanye as a musician, but I really find him hard to tolerate when he’s not performing. Recently, he also said something like reading was a waste of time and that a book will never give you an autograph. Kanye needs to work on his ego and practice humility?

Ed hit the nail on the head. I’m a huge fan of Kanye’s music, but not of Kanye the person, and it’s stuff like this that really turns me off. I’m not a big fan of Pink’s, either, nor am I a member of any anti-fur coalition, but (assuming this anecdote is true) for Kanye to say such things to those specific people is just wrong. He should have known better.
While I couldn’t care less about PETA or people wearing fur, I think the faux-pas here is that Kanye was ignoring his environment and spewing his opinions to people who would be offended by them. Because of that, I thin Pink’s response was understandable.

Considering the stupid things that Kanye West says on an almost daily basis, I think that this harsh a response is refreshing. I wish people would call him on his stupidity more often, because he’s got a lot of it to go around.
