Saxophonist Sam Butera, best known for his endlessly entertaining work in Louis Prima’s high-octane band, died from pneumonia on Wednesday at the age of 81, according to the New York Times. We could gas on about how great he was, but instead we’ll just post this clip of him and Prima doing “Oh Marie” (mislabeled here as “Hey Marie,” for some reason).

To Samantha.. are you nuts?
To the family of Sam… Condolences.. How marvelous he was!
Rest in peace, Mr. Butera. Your music has brought lots of people (including me) LOTS of joy. I used to have Louis Prima’s Greatest Hits CD in heavy rotation, and I am going to go find it and throw it on now.
