Adam Lambert finally confirms his sexuality in the new issue of Rolling Stone. Yes, it turns out the American Idol contestant is gay. The issue hits stands this week, but RollingStone.com already has some excerpts up. “I don’t think it should be a surprise for anyone to hear that I’m gay,” Lambert says in the interview, adding, "I’m proud of my sexuality…I embrace it. It’s just another part of me.” Just don't call him a poster boy, Lambert urges in the piece: "I’m trying to be a singer, not a civil rights leader.”

The winner here is Adam…not because he finally came out (news flash, we already knew!), but because he somehow tricked Rolling Stone into paying him a crapload of cash for an interview where he reveals a secret that was never really a secret to begin with. I couldn’t imagine the meeting at RS: “Hey, I’m Adam Lambert, runner-up on AI. Could you pay me a gajillion dollars for a story that everyone already knew? Wait, yes? You’re buying this!? Sweet.” HAHAHAHAHA!!!
OK, I’m kiddin’ around (we all know RS approached Adam, not the other way around), but seriously: this is not news to anyone. So good for Adam for somehow making a buck out of the whole ordeal (in this economy, he’s got to do something before that record is made!)
This cover brought tears to my eyes. I am so happy for him that he has been able to do this on his own terms…and in true Adam Lambert fashion, has done it so well. He has neither pandered to the demands of the gay community nor the journalism establishment. He is a gorgeous, talented, exciting man!

Yes, he did it on “his” terms – payment from Rolling Stone for his “story”. He’s been playing coy for months when EVERYONE should have known he was gay. Was there really any doubt? He played up the media and the fans by not giving a real answer, and somehow got Rolling Stone to sponsor his “coming out” announcement. Seems like a new famewhore has arrived.

What the …? Wow, let’s find a way to turn a jaundiced eye on it. Let him talk to whom he wants to, say it once, and get it out there. What was he “hiding,” anyway? The pics were out & he holds hands with guys. So he doesn’t scream it from the rooftops. Most normal people don’t, you know.
Absolutely no reason we should care about this, and those who do care should find a new country to annoy!
