Some people might be surprised by today's announcement that Auto-Tune autocrat T-Pain will be part of the CMT Music Awards next Tuesday. Not me. "Why exactly would the CMT Awards organizers feel that a veritable who's who of country stars like Taylor Swift, Keith Urban, Martina McBride, Toby Keith, and Brad Paisley was missing…T-Pain?", you ask. Well, I'm not even sure that the CMT powers-that-be had a choice in the matter. Ever since reading about how T-Pain waltzed onstage uninvited during Jay-Z's live debut of "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" last weekend, I'm assuming that's just how that guy rolls. Hey, just because T-Pain shows up at a totally incongruous event doesn't mean anyone asked him to be there!
Okay, just kidding. T-Pain is a very fun musician, and I am sure that his unique joie de vivre will make this broadcast that much more enjoyable to watch. He certainly makes more sense than fellow presenters like Bill O'Reilly and Luke Wilson, who aren't even singers. And maybe this explains why Taylor Swift tweeted on Monday about being in the studio with T-Pain? (Or maybe not.) Anyway, what do you think? Does T-Pain's involvement make you more or less interested in tuning in for the CMT Music Awards?

Well look at it this way: Half the singers, including Taylor use the Auto-tune technique to fine tune their voices.
Well lets just say I will be at the awards and am even more excited now!
I remember when Tim McGraw hosted SNL a while back, T-Pain was the musical guest. I think they became besties and are wanting to work together. Maybe it has something to do with that? And also, Luke Wilson has always been a part of the country community… He even starred in a Willie Nelson video that I love.
Taylor Swift so sucks. Why is the country music business trying to stuff this no talent little twit down our throats. Has MTV taken over at CMT. So sad.
Hey the awards show was good. Country is trying its best to become mainstream America, just not southern America. People watch, and that is all that CMT cares about.
I have to admit, I have missed the last few years of the CMT awards. I was looking forward to watching tonight, however, I just turned it OFF about 1/2 way through. I got tired of all of the NON-Country people involved and all of the wise cracks and cut-downs on my favorite artists. Call me OLD SCHOOL I guess, but I’m only 38. Also, since when have they had to start bleeping out words. I can’t believe CMT is starting to stoop so low.
I have admit, we were very disapointed woth the “country award”. dont get me wrong.Im as country as it gets. but when did country loss its gift for talet and beauity.. we should stick with country nusic and not poltics… the pure country had it right like Alan Jackson, Randy travis, george straite .Reba, Alabama Classy… people like Tayer Swift is a joke with no talet nor dose she any respect for herslf for country and a disgrace to country music. just what is country comeing to.. am all for intertwing music but come . a Raper, and Rock… what kind of ending was that … to play rock .. for the closeing of the awards…lets go back ro our roots

Wow! Before you try and bring down someone who is an ICON to all young girls around, Maybe you should bring yourself back to the 3rd grade and learn how to spell. Taylor Swift is amazing and pure and extremely talented. Thats why she is #1 dumbass. All of you people really need to open your minds a little more and get out of your small inbred box of a town and get some culture in your lives.

When did CMT become Culture Mix Television? I was annoyed, to say the least, with the likes of T-Pain being present at a Country Music Awards show. But, I guess its just par for the course for CMT. Country music used to be sang by cowboys. The men of country music are being replaced by a bunch of artistic weirdo’s wearing lace-frilled shirts, earrings, bleached/highlighted hairdo’s, and pretty high-heels have replaced the once standard cowboy boot.
Hooty..? Country..? Really..?
