“The Idol ashes”? That’s just stupid. The show and Cowell gave her a break of a life-time and many times Cowell was right about her. Smithson learned a lot. If not for that experience, she would not be where she is now!!!

this girl sucks !!! I mean she’s ridiculous ! She tries to looks like amy lee, to sing like her ( but she can’t actually). She even copy amy’s move. It’s so pathetic ! Hey Carly please just watch one of your videos and you’ll see that you’re not awesome like evanescence’s singer at all so don’t murder their songs and please try to find your own personnality too !
Wow! Carly is both a fantastic singer and interpreter of lyrics. I’ll never forget what she did to Here You Come Again on Dolly Parton week on Idol, she took an upbeat poppish country song and turned it into a heart wrenching ballad. I’ve always suspected that she wanted to front a rock band and Ben Moody and the boys seems like a great fit to me. Viva La Carly!
I really like Amy Lee and Carly. But will “The Real Slim Shady Please Stand Up?” I think both ladies should go it solo. No need for Moody to shove Carly into the Amy Lee mold.
JUST SAW THIS CRAZY ARTICLE! Amy Lee is Evanescense, and in the studio recording for a new realease in 2010. Hey, those guys left years ago and are trying to get back what they lost, so taking on a well known desent singer who looks an awful lot like Amy, calling themselves by the name of the first EV album…..we will see “WE are the Fallen” fall down soon I think.
YEa We are the Fallen is awsome to bad i already have the album its called fallen and i think amy lee was the singer. Carley simmon has a nice voice but why is she trying to be amy lee she needs to find her own style and not bogart others
Before some of you post something like “Amy fired all the “original” band member,” you need to get your facts straight. Amy and Ben formed Evanescence a long time ago and then David joined them before their first debut album “Fallen.” David LEFT the band before the album’s released to pursue a different music career. Ben LEFT the band in the midst of the band’s world tour. John and Rocky were never part of the original line up of Evanescence (Amy Lee, Ben Moody, David Hodges), they weren’t even a major part of Fallen. Amy fired John because he didn’t really want to be with Evanescence and just using the band as a tool to promote his other band, Rocky QUIT after John was fired. They weren’t in it for the music just the money. I’m pretty sure their are wrong doings on both sides but blaming it all on the lead singer without knowing what really happened behind the scene is just pathetic. Just because the band members left and one was fired, doesn’t mean they were all fired.
Either way, goodluck to this project.
May god be with Carly, Rocky ,Ben and the rest of the band…. KEEP FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS! You all are truely blessed, And it shows in your music.
Rocky is a true blessed by God musician and Carly had just found her ”Musical angel”. He is a wonderful guitarist& drummer…Thanks Carly for giving him a chance to be in your band.
And as for Simon… May God have mercy upon you for being soooo quick to dismiss good talent!
She is not joining Evanescence. Ben left Evanescence for differences with Amy. then Amy fired john who is NOT an original member and rocky the drummer not an original member left as well. Amy Lee is Evanescence, Ben left so he is not. Carly has had a ton of chances to prove her worth, such as her horrible Ultimate High failure. 2.2 million dollars spent on her to make that cd and she sold a dismal 400 records. Carly is an ok singer, but can not hold a candle to Amy Lee. Poor carly is in the middle of Ben trying to bring back his glory days he lost the moment he left Evanescence, that’s why he is dressing carly like Amy and having her sing their (ben and amy’s) old songs. Hopefully carly can find her niche since pop wasn’t it. But really? don’t try to ride Amy’s coat tails.
The excuses Ben Moody gives to this band’s idea says that these guys haven’t moved on musicially since 2003. And he thinks he’s being smart saying this. We all know he went on doing different business things like a hip hop label that failed.
Also, he was the only “other” band member in Evanescence, because when Wind-Up signed the band they were a duet. The other members were only hired by the label, and then fired. They’re not members, so when he says Amy Lee is playing with other dudes around, I’m sorry but the only band member that was truly replaced was himself, and sorry but he plays only the guitar, he never created the songs the way she did, THE WORDS!
It seems that deep down in his childish heart he is hurt that she kept the name of the band, but well, that’s the music biz, he wanted to leave and she owned half the name of the band and she wanted to have it keep going and she did, and kept the name of the band. I’m sorry, but the first thing that someone recognizes when they hear music it’s the VOICE. A guitar can sound like any other guitar arrangements. Plus, she owns most of the songs, because she wrote the words AND the melody, that’s how it works people.
Also, he says they’re just using the sound of the band’s first record, but then, why didn’t they pick a singer that sounds DIFFERENT than Amy Lee? Or, a singer that has blonde hair? Or, a singer that dresses differently? They copied Amy Lee’s IMAGE which they NEVER owned.
The name sounds like a joke…. OR RATHER, AN “EVANESCENCE” TRIBUTE BAND.
Sad. It just proves they have absolutely no creativity.
PS: I watched the video and it is sad they took this vocalist, she has no stage presence, sings off key and looks VERY AMATEUR.
They are simply a way of Universals/Republic to compete with Wind-Up… At least, the label believes so.
It’s also a shame how Ben Moody underestimates Evanescence’s fans, he thinks they believe his crap, sad, very sad.
The new band is called We Are The Fallen. Evanescence web site still says a new album is coming out Fall of 2011 but if the band created a new band with Carly i guess thats not gonna happen
