Apparently American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert recorded an album in 2007 and 2008, before anyone had ever heard of him. Now, not shockingly, somebody is trying to cash in with these early recordings. A label called Hi Fi Recordings/Wilshire Records has just released a "single," called "Want," from the sessions, and an album, On With the Show, is due out later this summer.

UPDATE: Lambert has just released a statement responding to the release of this new song:
"Back in 2005 when I was a struggling artist, I was hired as a studiosinger to lend my vocals to tracks written by someone else. I was brokeat the time and this was my chance to make a few bucks, so I jumped atthe opportunity to record for my first time in a professional studio. The work I did back then in no way reflects the music I am currently in the studio working on. I'm thrilled to be working with some of today's hottest songwriters andproducers and can't wait for people to hear what my music really soundslike."

Can RCA block this release? If not, will Adam be compensated? This whole thing stinks.
Is there legal action that can be taken by 19E to stop this from actually coming out? Not sure if it will hurt Adam’s career, but seems like an attempt to exploit him. Even if the music is good (and so far, everything I’ve heard pre-Idol is), it’s not what Adam’s looking to project image-wise right now.
I just wouldn’t support this if they are taking advantage of Adam.

Exploitation sucks! If Adam is actually fairly compensated for this and it isn’t blocked by his newly inked deal with RCA then I’d buy it. Otherwise I’ll only listen where I can hear it for free so those exploiting him now don’t get a dime from me. Obviously they sat on these recordings for well over a year, until Adam became the biggest new name in the business. Perhaps NOW we know what that snake in the RS cover shot REALLY stood for!

It’s not much of a song. But I can’t stop listening to it. Adam can turn any song into something I want to listen to over and over again.
That’s exactly how I feel. His voice is infectious. Like the judges say “he can sing the phone book and i’ll listen.”
Can’t get enough of him even with this lame song. It will never climb the charts anyway, just ignore it and don’t worry…… he has much hotter music coming to take the charts
hmmm, you know, it is really nice to hear him sing something NOT from Idol. I just love his voice and style. Let’s just hope he gets a good cut of the sales. I would like to hear all of it but not if it is going to screw up his debut kickass album…
It’s pretty lame. His voice, as always is gorgeous, but the song really kind of sucks. It never really does anything, very blah musically.
In spite of what these scumbags are doing to capitalize on Adam’s marketability, I must say I loved the song. If this is even a smidgen of the type of music Adam will have on his new album then I will be delighted.
Just think what he will be able to do with GREAT producers and writers…OMG I cannot wait!!!
DOESN’T matter. His new album will have so many songs climbing the ladder of musical fame…… this little song will not even be a blip on his radar…… and for all you worried money grubbers, the money he could have made off this (and won’t) will pale in comparison to the money he is going to make in the next 30 years
Unfortunately, if Adam signed a contract with this company, he may not be able to stop them from releasing these recordings. It will be interesting to see what, if anything, RCA/19 will do in response.
Re: “Want”, Adam’s voice sounds good, but the song itself isn’t great. The lyrics are very repetitive.
The song isnt very good. I hope Adam and RCA try everything they can to stop these leeches from capitalizing on his fame. Adam has much higher standards than just some plain song that repeats the same lyrics over and over again. I will not be buying it. I’ll wait till the fall when his real music comes out.
Have to hear what Adam says about this release. I think he sounds amazing,sounds like some of his studio versions from Idol. Just listen to the words, they are really sweet . I love the song and Adam ! Anything he touches is Magical……….
Its amazing what Adam’s voice can do to a very simple song, I love hearing anything that he sings so yes the lyrics are not the best, his voice well I can’t get enough of it
¡Oh! If this is a sample of what Adam will offer us, I will remain his faithful fan forever. The lyrics aren’t all that, and the melody seems kind of overused, but his voice is absolutely amazing!
I certainly hope 19/RCA can do something to squash this or stall it because that sucks if this undermines Adam’s real first album. Adam’s voice is beautiful but this is clearly only demo quality sounds/production.

Are they even allowed to realease this?? I actually do like the song, but it can not be realeased if Adam does not want to. RCA needs to come out with a statement RIGHT NOW and let us know what is going on! This is not the first single of Adam, and I hate that people think it is. He only started recording recently.
OK maybe its just me but I am totally infatuated with his voice. He could be singing the alphabet and still it is HOT to me, his voice is just rock star quality. I am 43, my mom is 67 and my daughter is 21 and we ALL LOVE Adam. So do all of our gay friends and staright friends. He is just THE MAN. Our new Elvis

I think his voice control has grown since the show but this is still good (if corny – I doubt he’ll release another song that rhymes so obviously)
Forgive me b/c I am a huge fan of Adam but didn’t Joanna Pacitti get dropped from the top 20 because she had already had the chance at a recording contract and had an album released? Is this fair? Too late to change it but I feel bad for Joanna.
TOTALLY lame and empty song…….. everyone knows love is all we really want and what we really need…. we don’t need to be told over and over 50 times in 1 song……………..BUT ADAM’s voice is the hottest thing since Freddy Mercury and Jim Morrison, and better than anyone else today (sorry Daughtry) and he will prevail and be KING!
