Adam Lambert's new (old) single 'Want': Awesome new tune or lame cash-in?

Apparently American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert recorded an album in 2007 and 2008, before anyone had ever heard of him. Read the full post.

HELL YEAH! IT JUST SHOWS HOW HE CAN SANG ANYTHANG.

Well, there’s definitely no denying that Adam can sing the crap out of anything, even a poorly written song like that. We already knew that though when he sang Kara DioGuardi’s awful AI finale song. It wasn’t anything refreshing and new though which is what Adam is known for so I think it was probably just a cash-in job. Hopefully this won’t jeopardize his contract with 19 records to release his album in the fall.

dont like the song much but i still luurrrvve adam!

FOR LEO — Joanna had a record contract with the company that produces American Idol and she was well aware of it. That is why she was not allowed to continue. Major conflict of interest! It had nothing to do with having a record deal but that the deal was with THE COMPANY THAT OWNS AMERICAN IDOL!

Leo Joanne Pacitti got dropped because she was closely associated with execs at 19 entertainment. Apparently she had lived with someone involved in the American idol production. Lots of contestants have released albums before including kris, David cook and others. The only requirement isvthat you don’t have a CURRENT recording contract.

Horrible, horrible song. Was Adam desperate for recognition?, because if he liked this then thats scary. Upside, Adam’s voice is gorgeous.

I’m not even going to listen to the song. If I were Adam, I’d be pissed. I would also be shocked if there wasn’t some legal way to stop this…how idiotic.

Song is THE WORST but this guy is a HUGE talent and is on his way to the billboard charts (hopefully not with this song).

Yes the song is repetitive, but I like it. It’s nice, simple and not oversong. I will be one of the first to buy it when it comes out. You can’t blame Hi-Fi Recordings for taking advantage of a possible hit album. They already have a completed album of a up and coming star, who wouldn’t jump at that chance. It’s just going to be more Adam songs to love and compare how he’s grown as an artist.

love his voice, glad to hear something new….would i buy it- yes if it would benefit adam

never liked him and i still think he’s way overrated

It’s not the greatest song, but his voice is addictive to listen to. Let’s try not to get too critical here, folks – remember Adam was recording these tracks because he really wanted to be recording artist. This is stuff he co-wrote in partnership with this label and, while it may not be as professionally done as what will be done with 19, we’ll probably wind up treasuring these “early works” in the long run. I say hold judgment until we find out whether he gets a cut of the revenue from these – if he had a partnership contract, he probably does.

Lame song – but he sings it well – of couse – he is INSANELY TALENTED. I can’t wait to hear his album with some fabulous material. LOVE HIM.

Just listened to the song. If this is truly Adam before Idol then I can hardly wait until his new album comes out! The man can sing anything!!!
