I don’t think drug reports or anything specific will affect his sales. Eventually the market and our ears will become saturated and the sales will decline in a natural manner. His sales should continue to do well for a long long time if the family gets someone smart to handle the business similar to Elvis’ music.

It is usually tragedy that makes us rediscover special things…like REAL MUSIC. RIP MJ. Thanks for the great ‘real’ music you left us. You will never be forgotten.

I believe that Michael Jackson’s stunning posthumous album sales was the shot in the arm the music industry needs after months and years of weekly declining album sales! Perhaps it can make people go back to buying physical music CDs and listening to FULL ALBUMS again instead of downloading every year since 2006 for one or two songs. Lastly, I hope that Michael’s passing will convince music artists out there to get off their butt, perform for their fans more often, and promote their music more! Michael gave 150% or more to his performances, he was that decidated to his art and craft. This is just like the big monster million-copies weeks that Thriller was selling during 1983!

Tell me this–how come Number Ones didn’t do this in 2003? I was expecting people getting 18-20 copies of that CD for their friends. I thought it’d sell a million copies that first week it came out because of his name alone. But then those charges at Neverland came up and that screwed everything up. It took Michael’s passing and nearly 6 years to boost that album’s sales again. It is a great album that has all of his Epic records hits like Billie Jean, Beat It, Thriller, Rock With You, Bad and others and a live version of his first No. 1 Ben. I think most people want a sampler of his hits instead of individual albums. And I agree with an earlier comment–some people bought Michael’s album when they were on vinyl in the ’70s and ’80s, so they can get the CD version of it to continue having his music in their collections.
