Pearl Jam’s new single “The Fixer” got shipped to radio this morning. It’s the second song we’ve heard off their upcoming Backspacer — “Got Some” debuted at the same time as Conan’s Tonight Show — and it’s quite possibly the poppiest thing the band has ever done. Like, try not to bounce up and down in your chair.

I’ll need to give it a couple of listens, but so far it sounds less like Pearl Jam and more like an uncharacteristically adventurous Kings of Leon track. Just weird.
Wow…I really like this.
Brilliant. As always.
better suited for some other band like the foo fighters
I think this song will grown on me, much like a lot of other new Pearl Jam releases. They seem to go for something a little different with each album and I always end up enjoying them. Riot Act took me a while to like, but now I absolutely love it.
Song has already grown on me! Cannot wait for Pearl Jam’s two October shows to close down the Spectrum here in Philly!!

It’s been years since I’ve wanted to put a new Pearl Jam song on repeat, but this one hits the target (pun intended). “The Fixer” is in.
Well, at least it’s not as “poppy” as the new Chris Cornell album (thank goodness). It’s nice, maybe I can get use to it.
Darn you, EntertainmentBlogger…I blame YOU for my inability to get tickets to either one of those Philly shows!
Pearl Jam is and will be for a long time, the best rock band out there. They stay true to their fan base and they are never afraid to go out on a limb and try something new. This song shows how Pearl Jam can try different sounds and nail it. Great song.
I think it will grow on me. Get Some is better IMO.
Maybe live in Philly will help it grow on me.
I honestly don’t know what to say …. I saw vedder in june do his solo show and it’s amazing how good it was, but it’s dark and light and entertaining and serious throughout. Then this sounds like 80s pop and I am very interested in where this goes. Pj is an incredible rock band and very good musicians … This is nowhere like vs or vitalogy or riot act wow
I’m really liking this! Eddie’s voice sounds great in this midrange. Matt’s drumming is tight! The thing about PJ material, it gets better with each listen. And you don’t get tired of it!
2 listens and I cant get it outta my head, roll on London and Manchester 3weeks to go
they havent made a great album since vitology..average at best song
