Guilty Pleasures, Round One: Barry Manilow (2) vs. Matchbox Twenty (15)

I feel no shame in loving Manilow music at all.
People always complain about the LYRICS to his songs but if you will listen to the actual MUSIC itself it is absolutely beautiful and complex! The man KNOWS how to arrange and orchestrate!
There is nothing whatsoever wrong with enjoying Manilow. (lyrics and ALL!)
Rob Thomas DOES show great potential — but he hasn’t been on the scene all that long yet. Let’s just see if we’re still attending concerts and buying CDs of HIS thirty years from now. Perhaps THEN this will be a valid issue.

there is something wrong when matchbox 20 (DID YOU SEE THAT THOMAS, I’M USING THE NUMERALS.) can’t win a guilty pleasure competition. I’m concerned that the people are voting for pleasure and forgetting the guilt.

He does not look like anyone’s aunt. He is a pure genuis with music,best composer/arranger. I vote for Barry. He has never said he wrote “I write the songs” The first time he introduced it he said it belonged to Bruce Johnson. I resent your snide remarks. I can understand if you don’t like his music but I don’t respect your nasty comments.
