Eminem, Mary J. Blige, The Roots, and more to perform at 'VH1 Hip-Hop Honors'

It’s been 25 years since Rick Rubin, then an NYU undergrad with a much shorter beard, founded Def Jam Recordings in his dorm room. Time for a celebration! Which is exactly what will go down later this month, when a star-studded lineup will pay tribute to the storied rap label at the sixth annual VH1 Hip-Hop Honors in Brooklyn. And I mean “star-studded”: According to a press release sent out this morning, Eminem, Young Jeezy, Rick Ross, Fabolous, Ludacris, DMX, Mary J. Blige, Redman, The Roots, Method Man, Onyx, Public Enemy, Warren G, Kid Rock, Trey Songz, Ja Rule, Gym Class Heroes, and Scarface have all been confirmed to perform at the event. Additionally, Chris Rock, Jimmy Fallon, and Brett Ratner will present awards; Tracy Morgan will return to host the event.

Not a bad list, huh? And some of those artists have never even been signed to Def Jam! Are you planning to tune in when the ceremony is broadcast on Oct. 13? Which performances are you most looking forward to?
