'New Moon': Hear the Death Cab for Cutie single in full

We’ve given you the build-up and the song snippet; now the first single from The Twilight Saga: New Moon soundtrack—Death Cab for Cutie’s “Meet Me on the Equinox”—is finally streaming online.

Singer Ben Gibbard croons about the romantic futility of love (“Let our bodies intertwine/But always understand/That everything, everything ends”), which is sure to be revelatory to anyone under the age of sixteen. Listen below:

What do you think? Is this new Death Cab song worthy of their catalog? Does it suit Twilights vampire angst as well as Paramore’s “Decode” did? Will Twihards start popping up at DCFC shows, to the annoyance of the indie crowd?

Not a bad song but I was really hoping for an angsty painfilled song by a female artist to fully capture Bella’s despair.

Oh Well I’ll put on Evanescence of Hana Pestle’s Need when I read New Moon.

Who knows though, maybe when I see the song in the movie it might work really well. Chris seems to be doing a pretty good job right now.

sorryy. but i just dont think the song sounds right for the movie… it can be on the soundtrack i guess but i just dont think it sounds right for the main song. like decode by paramore that was an amazing song for twilight. however i think a song for new moon should be a little slower. idk. this is just my opinion. but a song tht i think should defffff be on the soundtrack is stay with me by danity kane. : ) thanks

  • madavi

it sounds a little off for the movie. i don’t really like it that much. i think paramore should have done another song but yet twilight and new moon are kinda diff categories. but i still don’t like the song that much:(

I like the song but dont think it sounds right for the movie at all! Death Cab for Cuties song “I will follow you into the dark” on the other hand is perfect! I had really high hopes when I first heard tehy would be on the soundtrack…now Im just really diapointed!

I feel like this song could grow on me, depending on what other songs are on the soundtrack and after I’ve actually seen the movie. I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt, at least until Nov. 20.

I don’t think this song fits Twilight at all. I like Death Cab but this one is a no go for this movie. My choice for the singe for New Moon would be “The Wind Blows” by The All-American Rejects.

  • madison

whatever this song bites. cant they find a better choice. i can think of like 5 right now. what did death cab for cutie sell to the devil to be included in this

  • Mae

Honestly, this song doesn’t even seem to be relevant to New Moon.

I mean, Paramore’s ” I caught Myself” was in the first movie, but it always seemed related to bella and jacob to me.

I can also think of at least five better songs right now…
