Alicia Keys' 'Doesn't Mean Anything' hits the Web: Hear it here

Fresh off her performance of “Empire State of Mind” with Jay-Z at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Alicia Keys has debuted a brand-new song of her own online. “Doesn’t Mean Anything” is a mid-tempo piano ballad, classic Keys — think 2007’s smash “No One,” except tinged with heartbreak and regret instead of all-powerful devotion.

“Doesn’t Mean Anything” comes from Keys’ in-progress fourth studio album. Last month, she told me that recording on that project was “going phenomenally well. I’m very excited about it… I’m sure that it will be a sound that’s very fresh to your ears.”

Give “Doesn’t Mean Anything” a listen, below, then let us know what you think of Alicia Keys’ latest.

Once again Alicia is innovative and has given another beautiful vocal performance…Really enjoyed this single and look forward to the cd release..Thanx Alicia

What is “innovative” about the song? Seriously.

i love it and i love alicia, she certainly makes me buy a cd in this so called music industry today, cant wait to buy the single and album, love her and hopefully she goes on tour again

  • Jess

I don’t hear heartbreak here. When she sings, “since you’re gone,” there’s no emotion.

  • hersh

I’m a great fan of hers, but this song has nothing going for it. Sometimes; after having initial successes, artisis start thinking that anything they will put out is great and they start producing junk. Take Barbra Streisand for example.

  • Nick

It’s a solid song, but it’s more of an album filler than a single.

i love alicia keys and thinks she’s a legend in the making and a true inspiration….but this song is below average. i found it meandering and bland. i hope she releases a killer single because i always want her to do well. keep it coming ms. keys!

This song is pretty awesome. Although I wasn’t sure Alicia was dropping a new cd this Fall along with Whitney, Mariah, & Leona Lewis…but this will definitely be an across the board smash at all formats for Miss Keys. Its a shame Clivwe couldn’t convince Alicia to give this song to Whitney instead of “Million Dollar Bill”…hahaha

Another hit!!! Alicia Keys will always do well.

  • Katrina Romero

Like always I am very impressed with this new single. She keeps it real and her voice is amazing. She always brings that perfect beat that includes her talent of playing the piano. Her music has a different edge to it that no one else can touch.I can’t wait to buy the new album and see her on tour again. Her talent is a one of the kind.

Boring. Sounds like the sequel to “No One”.
