The Backstreet Boys represent such a good time in my life! I still listen to them, and I can’t help but smile when I hear their music. They certainly don’t get enough credit, and I don’t feel the least bit guilty still liking them. I’m 30, and I still have a crazy crush on Nick Carter!

What are you talking about?! The Backstreet Boys have been together for almost 17 years, they have sold over 100 million albums and to this day they are still selling out shows world wide! You don’t have to like them, but to say they are destroying the music industry come on!! Check your facts buddy, they are one of the most successful groups of all time and there is NO denying that!

I voted for Wham. No one told me to do that. Honestly. I just did it because I love the shorts and gloves look. I rock it almost daily.
Maybe we can get out the short shorts and shake our things big boy.
This is difficult. I love george as a solo artist but HATED Wham. The Backstreet Boys catchy harmonies are great. I have to give this to George for all of his other talents.
The only reason I picked George is because I do feel truly guilty for liking him at all. There will always be a boy-band in every generation that make people go nuts. Listening to BSB is like flipping through an old yearbook. But George Michael/Wham… The songs are on my iPod but I don’t play them in the presence of others. One of the definitions of a Guilty Pleasure.

Here’s the ultimate proof that BSB are a supremely guilty pleasure. I read this at work and was super excited to listen to the clip, but I waited until all of my co-workers had left our office area to press play. (Then imagine my disappointment when it didn’t work…)

For me the Backstreet Boys are not a guilty pleasure, they are, and always will be, my favorite band. I am more than happy to play their music in public, wear my old concert t-shirts and be all happy when news about their next album or concert comes out. I can’t wait until their new album hits store shelves and I plan on being in line for tickets when they come back to town. KTBSPA!!!!!!

Bands consist of people that play instruments. The BSB don’t do anything most people can’t do by the time they’re 2 years old.
Well, “Details”, get YOUR details right – they don’t call themselves a ‘band’, they are a group, A VOCAL HARMONY group. And a voice is just as much an instrument as any piece of equipment! A good voice requires as much natural talent, and training, and maintenance as playing a guitar or piano, etc. I’d like to see YOU try and pull off 4 or 5 piece harmony a capella with the precision and sweetness that BSB does!
so we have one BSB fan named “mikal”, and another named “shelby”. I’m waiting for some idiot named “cindee” to appear with a heart instead of a dot over the “i” in her name.

Being mainstream 90s pop and cleverly marketed doesn’t mean BSB fans are idiots. I was too young to like them when they were at the top but discovered their purely irresistible harmonies afterwards. You can’t deny that they have great vocals. They may not be the most talented group, but they’ll always remain my favourite because I found something beautiful in their music and in their voices, I’m sure many more fans have too, and love them far past their peak – so any stereotyped “idiot” you refer to probably won’t apply to most fans supporting them now, because most of those people have been swept away into another wave of popular culture and we who remain actually did find something substantial to love about them. I think BSB are amazing!
