I actually think the drop in sales from the last album may be due partly to the fact that the album wasn’t available everywhere. That said, I’m sure they made more money off the sales because of the arrangement. And most importantly, the album is GREAT.
I liked when the Group Pearl Jam Sanged with Neil young Keep Rockin in the Free world back in the 90s.I like that a lot
Pearl Jam isn’t in the business of making and selling albums anymore. They’ve become one of the best grossing live bands on an ongoing basis. They’re alt rock’s version of the jam band: a band that tours often, sells out every venue they play and has a loyal legion of fans that travel with them to see all their shows. Who cares if they go to #1 or how many units they sell? They’ll be around for the long(er) haul unlike many who are currently on the charts.
the greatest band 2 ever walk the planet,pj have never been about $,its all about quality.we will be talking about ev in 400yrs about the genius singer/songwriter he is.
yield didnt reach #1,what a joke.just another masterpiece from ed & the boys.cant wait 4 melb 20nov & bris 25nov c u boys down under again for the 8th time.backspacer is rockin like always,go get it people, coz like eddy says”got some if u need it”
The only valid reason that Pearl Jam’s 2006 release sold more copies than Backspacer in early sales is wider availability. Backspacer is a far superior album and has become one of my favorites, a close tie with their 1998 release, Yield. When you limit the availability of any item, it won’t sell as many because only the people looking for it will be buying it. However, I think this album deserves the attention of all rock music fans, not just Pearl Jam fans. I don’t understand why anyone would complain about where the album is sold; fans always know where to get the album and if this deal works better for the guys then everybody wins. Don’t forget that if you buy the album at Target, you can download two full shows so you’re getting more than 3 albums worth of PJ for 11.99!! Backspacer deserves the spotlight, EXCELLENT ALBUM!
Pearl Jam’s sales are relatively low compared to how huge they were. 3 days grace performed as everyone thought it would. Five Finger Death Punch is a monster in the making, came out of left field on a small indie. They are relatively unknown, yet their first record shifted around 400,000 which is beyond amazing for a metal band. This 44K first week debute could mean the Majors will be Deathpunching each other over this act. Curious to see their numbers in the next 2-3 weeks.
Way to go David Crowder Band!! #10!!!
