For all the haters on Mariah; she’s still up there. She’s #1 on R & B CD chart, #3 on Billboard 200 CD chart, #8 with a bullet on Hot 100 with ‘Obsessed’ which is the #6 radio song (like for a month) and #9 digital song (with 1 million downloads) still, #11 on Dance Chart (which sailed to #1 too), it’s still in the Top 20 on R & B chart and her new single ‘I Want to Know…is on three charts as well and climbing: HOT 100 #60, R & B, #43 and Adult Contemp. #15.
Mariah’s music career is far from over just because her new CD debut at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Not sure what you’re all fighting about, but do wonder how many of you have heard the Streisand album, particularly the second cd with Diana Krall’s quartet backing. Can’t speak for the other 179,999, but I bought it — my first Streisand buy in over 10 years — because it’s a magnificent album, easily the best she’s done since The Way We Were album. Her voice still soars, but now there’s a shade of grit in the lower register that can pierce your heart. (Kudos to Diana Krall for her deft production.) As some get older they likely will better understand how extraordinary it is for a 67 year old both to want and to be able to make an album like this. Well done and well deserved, Barbra.
Mariah FLOPPED. Gonna fix me some delicious LAMPchops for dinner.
~
Guess Mariah better head back to the funny farm next year for press cause nobody cares about her except for EW and a few LAMBiots.
“He wrote a song about me and my husband, and in a really derogatory and juvenile way. And it’s not up to par with his other songs. … See, the difference is, my song is on the radio and his, you have to search for it.”
Yet your album is a failure Mariah. Back to rehab. Shoo.
Crazie,
There are alot of “beautiful and talented” people in funny farms and in rehab…so grow up and enjoy your lambchop meal!
I’ll grow up when you start listening to some manly music and not this Mariah whisper crap.
Is this the same fool who said Whitney’s 305k first week was “disappointing” but then turn around and say Mariah’s first week sales is a “nice numbers”? Girl Bye! I’m so over these “critics” trying to overrate Mariah just to downgrade Whitney or these other singers.
EW is a worthless mag and canceling was the best decision I ever made.
Let’s hear Renee Olstead sing “A Piece of Sky”. THEN you can tell us how “great” she is. Also, will her singing career last over fifty years? Barbra reigns. Glorious voice.
I think it’s remarkable that 12 new 2009 albums debuted in the top 20! People were just hungry for new 2009 albums and putting their 2008 albums away. And I don’t think you’ll ever see three divas in Barbra Streisand, Mariah Carey and Madonna with albums in the same week! That was a pop music showdown this year if there ever was one and each of them sold well the first week! With the songs he produced on Mariah Carey’s album, that makes it 50 produced songs that I’ve heard from Christopher “Tricky” Stewart in 2009! He’s produced a lot of artists’ songs this year on albums (Lionel Richie, Rick Ross, Ciara, Electrik Blue others) and Mariah just tops it for him!
I LOVE BARBRA. I AM 68 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE NOT GOTTEN USED TO THE NEW MUSIC. I AM SURE THRE ARE A LOT MORE LIKE ME. YOUNG PEOPLE FORGET THAT THE OLDER PEOPLE LIKE ME LISTENED TO BARBRA ALL THESE YEARS. I LIKE THE NEW SINGER RENEE OLSTEAD ALSO. OLD PEOPLE BUY CDS TOO.
Barbra is a legend, Madonna is an icon and Mariah is a joke. Not a fan of Barbra, love/hate Madonna and Mariah..just go away already. I would like to see artists duke it out the old fashioned way, actually sell a physical cd or album that people have to go to a store and buy, none of this downloading nonsense. I think you’d get more accurate numbers that way.
Where’s the review for the new Avett Brothers album. These guys deserve much love.
Barbra Streisand’s voice is naturally enchanting, brilliant and magnificent! Babs do not need to exaggerate and fake her voice!
