It’s two in the morning and raining, and I just witnessed the patron saint of New Jersey rock Giants Stadium for the last time. Read the full post.

I was at the opening show on 9/30 for Born to Run (the best yet), and also the 10/3 Born in the USA show and then this closing show on 10/9. I think we all bought into the rumors and hype about guest appearances, Bruce paying to keep the stadium open until 1:00 AM, etc. I for one thought he would do something really outrageous like play all THREE albums in their entirety. Between that silly notion and expecting a) Jon Bon Jovi, b) Billy Joel, or c) Eric Clapton or d) all of the above to show up, I had clearly I set the bar unrealistically high. In retrospect, the fact that he played 31 songs and went for 3 and a quarter hours is an amazing feat when it stands alone, but there was all that added baggage of it being the LAST SHOW AT GIANTS STADIUM (as that sign kept reminding us). Then I told myself, hey, the guy is 60 years old, and if my legs are starting to ache after nine hours (three shows’ worth) of dancing and boogying, imagine what HE must feel like. I really got that sense in the end when he didn’t come back out after Jersey Girl to do Rosalita. It was almost like he just burned out after five nights. I think that was my biggest disappointment of all.

So for a Bruce concert overall, I give it a B+, for a closing show and the last concert ever at Giant Stadium, about a B-.

Drove 91/2 hours from KY with friends and three teen-agers that were attending their first Bruce concert and OH what a concert experience it was. Made the pit and because of the kindness of those around us, the girls were able to play his guitar during Darlington County , hold hands with Bruce during Spirit in the Night. At one point, he even took my fifteen year old’s cell phone and took a pciture of himself with it!! They were in total awe the whole night and still have not come back down to earth. The keep wanting to know when they can go again. The whole concert experience was a total blast –met people from all around America as well as the world.. Noone can bring people together and create such happiness as Bruce!!!
