New Shakira feat. Timbaland and Lil Wayne, 'Give It Up to Me': Stream it here

What a She-Wolf wants, she gets. And this She-Wolf says “Give It to Me, Senor Timbaland!”

Listen to the brand-new single from Shakira, pop music’s reigning pint-sized Colombian, below. The Timba-produced track features both Lil Wayne and Ryan Seacrest’s sexy-voiceover lady (sorry guys, the song debuted on his morning show, so he gets to stamp it):

Is this gonna be on Shakira’s album or Timbaland’s?

As far as I see it, resorting to Timbaland when you’re style of music was totally different before is a sign of giving up on being a distinctive artist for the sake of getting on the charts. This track is boring. Shakira’s proven she’s just another Nelly Furtado, and she’s lost what initially set her apart.

Or it could be a sign that the artist just wants to make some money, which I know some people see as absoutely obscene, but is actually something to strive for in the real world.

Beyond that, an artist can earn more clout and visibility with a commercially-successful album. To use your Nelly Furtado example, yes, she “comprised” her sound to get all Timabalanded, but that made it easier for her to do whatever she wanted, which presumably meant recording her recent Spanish language CD.

If I hear Lil Wayne featured on one more chart-destined track, I’m going to scream. It’s too much.

the tracks he features on only make the charts cus of him

At first listen I was taken back by this single and I didn’t really care for it…but after the second and third listens I got really really into it..This song is HOT! It’s definitely a hit! Shakira puts her own personal touch to this song…and I think people should just stop criticizing her for changing up her style a bit…It keeps things fresh and helps Shakira expand her audience! She is still the same wonderful artist..she is just experimenting with new sounds….she should have that liberty…The fact that the most popular rapper and the hottest producer did a track with Shakira speaks volumes about how far she has come! We should all be proud of her!!! What if Madonna never experimented with new songs? As for Nelly Furtado…Loose was one of her best and helped her become relevant again! With the success of Loose Nelly was able to continue doing her heartfelt songs in SPANISH….Cut Shakira some slack she knows what she’s doing!

Ok, so I’m not entirely sure that this is the actual next single, or the rumored U.S. only limited edition bonus track from her forth-coming and now delayed “She Wolf” disc, due next month. Timbaland actually reocrded a bunch of tracks with Shakira, one featuring Wyclef called “On The Line”. Wether that track, or “Give It Up To Me” appear on either “She Wolf” or the still waiting in the wings, “Shock Value 2″ remains to be seen. I interviewed Shakira last month when she was doing a press tour for the album, and she was beyond humble & sweet, and spent a good portion of the time discussing her charity endeavors in favor of the new album. She was the furthest thing from a diva & apologized many times for being stuck in traffic. She even said she knew her label wanted the album out the 1st or 2nd week of October, but she wasn’t sure if they would switch the dates around (which they did). She said that this is an entirely different album for her (electronica) and that while making it she listend to Crystal Castles alot. The album i was promo’d did NOT contain this track with LiL wayne AND the Wyclef duet on the album is entitled “Spy”, not the track that Timbaland produced.
