Regular Music Mix readers will know that we love us some Hall and Oates, whether we’re getting Daryl to nominate his five favorite H&O numbers, pitting them against Journey in our Guilty Pleasures tournament, or yakking with Zooey Deschanel about the genius of “You Make My Dreams.”
Now we learn that Rachael Ray is also a big fan of the blue-eyed soulsters. Apparently, the TV cook-and-chatterer recently recorded a show with the duo and was so outraged to discover that the they have not been inducted into the Rock and Roll of Fame that she has launched a campaign to get them in. “Hall and Oates has my vote!” the Rayster declared in a blog item two days. I’m not actually sure she has a vote in this matter. But what the hey, if we send enough support her way maybe she’ll send us some food!
Will you be joining her campaign? Or can you not go for that Rachael Ray telling you who to support? (No can do?)

H&O in the RnRHoF? And not Rush?!?!? Criminal…
Hall and Oates aren’t in the Hall of Fame? Haven’t they heard Sara Smile?
Unfortunately, the Rock Hall of Fame is a sad joke. Anyone who ever put out an R&B or Blues record in the 1940′s is apparently some kind of Rock genius to the dimwits who run that freakshow. If you actually have had a great deal of popularity in the Rock & Roll era, with an actual Rock song or two, you ain’t worth a toot to those morons.
It should be called the Pretentious Clod’s 1940′s Blues Hall of Fame.
Paul you are pretty much on the mark. Hall of Fame should be that, a Hall of F A M E. Many people in there have extremely limited fan bases, who are revered ONLY within the industry. Daryl Hall John Oates deserve to be in there but so do so many other worthy and F A M O U S acts.
Who should be there:
The Monkees
ELO
Def Leppard
Neil Diamond
Chicago
Really, how PC does an act have to be to get in?
Hall & Oates are the number one selling duo in music history. They have 29 Top 40 hits. And, WHY are they not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Who are these “decision makers” that determine who gets in and who doesn’t? What a crime.
Maybe time for a Rock n’ Soul Hall of Fame. They would be first in.
John and Daryl have earned their place in the Great American Songbook, along with the Gershwins, Cole Porter, Stevie Wonder, Burt Bacharach etc.etc.
If the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has not recognized the duos contribution by now, it only diminishes the relevance of that organization.
Thank you Rachel Ray for your effort to get Hall & Oates into the R&R Hall of Fame. I am their biggest fan and was shocked to see them on your show and amazed that you took on this effort. It takes a cool person to recognize another. Good Luck!!!
