Iv’e been listning to the Postal Service since the beginning and love them. When I heard fireflies on the radio I thought it was a Ben Gibbard project. When I found out it was Owl City…who….What…I was like….What the…But quickly fell in love with the song and every song on the CD. Sorry Postal Service but….Postal Service CD…ummm 3-4 good songs. Owl City CD…ummmm Everyone of the are good. The entire CD ocean eyes is great! Yes it is.

Just check the billboard….Britney, Rhianna, Beyonce……..oh…..some kid from bumsville Minnesota who was in his parents basement only 2 years ago just beat their brains out…Good for you Adam!

holy crap, since when does 6 or 7 years go consitute “older” listeners ?! LOL

i am sure most of the kids listening to Owl City have heard The Postal Service in some form or another (since “such great heights” became prolific in tv commercials) because it WASN’T ALL THAT LONG AGO, lol.

Granted, if you’re 10 and you think Owl City is the shizz, fine. I don’t blame you for not having recognized TPS before you stopped taking naps…but then maybe you should be going around proclaiming this to be the best band evaaar or even original.

i cant even listen to this song cuz it’s such a rip.

Oh man. That video is even like the Postal Service…same retro color/feel of “We All Will Be Silhouettes”. Plus the moody depressed quiet ending…”he’s so complex and broody…he just wants a good nights sleep!”

Screw you MySpace. Whether you like synthpop or not, there is no way you can’t say this guy did a lot more than merely listen to The Postal Services album in the basement. (fap fap fap)

The sweet smell of haters hating.

Vocal effects bear zero resemblance to PS. The autotune-esque pitch bends are what makes this stuff so catchy.

Okay guys, lets be honest, after music has been around this long, can we expect to hear some completely new sound every single time we listen to a new song? No, songs are always going to sound somewhat similar to older songs, and bands are the same way. As someone has already said, thats what genres are. And anyways, the lyrics to this song are very silly and whimsical, but they still make sense to me, and to many others, and by them being cute it just adds more appeal. Why is everybody coming on here and bashing owl city? Postal Service was great, but This great song just got a lucky break, which is how a ton of artists become mainstream. And yes, some great bands never make it big, but they still release good music. I know we all have our opinions, but can we just be happy for Adan Young and his success? I know I am, and I hope he continues to make fun music.

Listened to Fireflies, sampled Cave In, great songs…way to go Owl City! One man band can make a difference!…

You know, some days I’m not in the mood for Trance, nor heavy rock, and love something in the middle. To me, this is where Owl City fits perfectly. It’s not serious, but aloof and happy, and I can’t help but smile.
Sure they sound similar to Postal Service, but that’s actually a GOOD thing people! When listeners find a new genre/style they like, they’ll go out and buy albums from similar bands. Postal Service album sales will likely go up! It’s a WIN WIN!

P.S. “On The Wing” & “Cave In” are my favorite tracks!

I love how all you dumb simpleton adolescent and prepubescent make all these comments as if it matters…Adam has laughed his ass off all the way to the bank and at such an early age has lived up to far more than youll ever dream of…Have a nice life wanker.

This song is the most god-awful ripoff – for those of you who like this song, go buy the original, the Postal Service record. This is shameless – from the cutesy synth, to the phrasing that literally copies Ben Gibbard, to the sad attempt at esoteric lyrics. I had to google it to make sure it wasn’t a new Postal Service or Gibbard side project… terrible.
