For those who are fans of the great electronic music pioneers of the 1980s – The Human League, Pet Shop Boys, Heaven 17 etc – will massively appreciate what Lady GaGa is doing.
Some of her stuff is hit and miss – but Poker Face and Bad Romance are extraordinary songs in a world full of talent show dirge and RnB ‘vocoder’ bile.
Regarding the Bad Romance video – it’s a watershed moment, ranked alongside A-Ha’s Take On Me, Aphex Twin’s Windowlicker, Jamiroquai’s Virtual Insanity
The first time this song came out on the radio, I did not think it was a GaGa song. I was never a fan though I loved the Paparazzi vid until I saw this video. When she sang this and Speechless at the Ellen Degeneres show I was hooked. Her Speechless is emotional and moving. I used to think she’s just like the other artists that a lot have come to love, all dolled up and prepackaged but in her interviews and live shows it is clear that this woman has the talent, the voice, and is a visual delight. Can you say these other pop stars can compose their own songs? And a rich background living as a starving artist? She really does love her craft.

I was never a fan of Lady Gaga’s until I heard and then saw this video. I was both shocked and impressed with her voice and her natural beauty.There was a song and video analysis on the net and basically she wants a bad romance with the entertainment industry even knowing the dirty inner workings of it. She even made it clear that she is a fame monster with her new album. Lady Gaga wanted something and being the aries that she is had the ambition and drive to go get it. Well done Lady Gaga!!!
Lady Gaga I absolutely gorgeous I love her music and I really don’t care what anyone says against her, because that’s their opinion and they’re entitled to it but when you hear the things she says and the things she’s gone through you can really understand where her songs come from. Like Dance in the Dark incredibly dark and daring about a girl living with insecurities about herself to where she can only be with men in the darkness. and then there’s songs like Teeth, obscure and upbeat that makes you wanna dance more then think of it’s meaning. She has a song for everything and that’s why I’m a devoted little monster :3.
BTW did anyone else notice the little lever/switch thing the guy was holding (the white one) just before it shows the bidding numbers is a WII nunchuck? Just wondering if I’m not the only one that was it. Maybe Gaga likes Wii?
I’m 55 and I think Lady Gaga is awsome! The video “Bad Romance” is astounding. And who IS that gorgeous bad boy anyways? Yummy!
