I’m highly upset over this. I was hoping for a deeper, richer “Special Company”… not mainstream country. From the artist who sang “Two Cups of Coffee” and “Almost Honest” this is just so unexpected. I hope it’s at least semi-neutral. If I hear twang.. uh uh. I can’t handle that.
I totally agree, and I’m completely surprised that there aren’t more pre-country Kelley fans out there. I feel he sold out, especially when you know his brother was whispering in his ear: this is where the money’s at! What a shame. He was original. Special Company was and is my favorite album by any singer/songwriter. I’m just glad it exists.
I love that song by Josh Kelley ‘Almost Honest’. I think he should stick with his rock/pop music.

…very risky… Country music is something not everyone understand (internationally I mean), here there was a decent success with the last 2 albums.. this one… it’s gonna be tough! Anyway, let’s wait to listen it…
Josh has had country elements in his music for a long time…listen to “Still Gonna Try” from Special Company and you’ll hear it. The new track sounds awesome. Can’t wait for the album to come out.

When I heard his first album doing street marketing when I first started college, I always heard this bit of country-twinge in his songs, and I liked it.
Granted, I kind of wish he was staying on the rock side of things with that bit of a country vibe, but I think he will have a lot more success as a country artist (most people do, don’t they?)
It will nice for people to know his name as something else besides Heigl’s hubby. He’s a wonderful artist.

I LOVE Josh Kelley! I’ve seen him a few times in concert. He’s amazing! His first 3 albums are my fave – the last not as much, but it was still good. I don’t really care which route he goes, as long as he keeps making music. He’s an amazing singer and performer and I will continue to be a fan no matter what he sings.
Kelley is a really bad singer and writer. The kind of song you can’t remind because there is just nothing specific and no good melodies. No surprise he can jump from pop to country, he has no identity at all. He just wants to make money, get a new market. Sorry I must be jealous what does Katherine Heigl is doing with this guy?

His pinnacle was Special Company. Every song on that album was an original. So much soul. The country stuff is just a sell out – it all sounds the same. Do we really need more? We need artists and innovators which is what Josh was until he started listening to his brother Charles whispering “this is where the money’s at!” What a shame. I’ll just keep Special Company on repeat.
