Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has denied reports that the band is eyeing Venezuela-based singer Paul Gillman as a potential replacement for frontman Steven Tyler. “If somebody was coming in, I think one of the other guys in the band would have at least texted me his name,” Perry quipped to EW when asked about the rumors on the American Music Awards red carpet. The Boston Globe cited “word out of South America” yesterday suggesting that Aerosmith plans to audition Gillman. –Reporting by Whitney Pastorek

Was this the guy on Oprah who was a poor singer from Thailand or the Phillipines? He was amazing.
no. i think that guy went on to sing with journey.
Didn’t Aerosmith replace Steven Tyler with Steven Tyler? Was Steven Tyler not a good replacement for Steven Tyler?
Aerosmith seems to be getting a lot of press these days. They don’t by any chance have a new album and/or a new tour in their near future, do they?
He said in an interview he was taking two years off. So discussion led to ‘Is Aerosmith breaking up’ and his bandmates didn’t even know what he was talking about. They say they are concerned he is back on drugs and not around good people right now. He later came back and said he’s still in Aerosmith and not leaving but he wants time off. So things are up in the air. They had to cancel several dates on tour because of his ‘illnesses’. Then talk turned to we may have no choice but to replace him but that is not our plan at this time, they just want him to get help and want to stand by him if he’ll let them. He’s angry, says he needs no help. Then we started hearing rumors about this guy from the phillipines. So who knows.
They gave Steven Tyler a shot but it didn’t work out so Steven Tyler rejoined the band. If he continues to be a problem Steven Tyler has said he’d like another shot at the gig if Steven Tyler leaves the band.
They should replace STyler ASAP.
It appears he’s back on dope.
We’ve all lived through this song and dance once before. Enough!
Since it’s been a decade since any real new music, Aerosmith is basically an oldies act (not a slight, I LOVE Aerosmith).
What they need is someone with energy who loves the music and can sing. Steven Tyler is not that man.
I’ve seen Paul Gillman from Venezuela and I think he would be perfect for Aerosmith – he’s handsome, has a great voice and is STRAIGHT AND NOT AN ADDICT!!
I dsiree additional individuals would write blogs like this that are really interesting to read. With all the garbage hovering around on the net, it is a abundant change of pace to read a blog like yours instead.
