Very lame show. LL Cool J was terrible as a host, and he shouted everything. Sugarland was by far the best of the night, classy and spot on vocals. And if you’re going to tribute MJ, why not pick one of his most famous songs, not a sappy looser that deflates the proceedings? Just say no to televising next year.
I’m a huge Jonas Brothers fan and I don’t get the Nick J solo project myself, I was not impressed and was quite frankly insulted by the slideshow behind him. It’s all very self-indulgent, without the performance being good enough to justify it.
Oh but if all of this results in people understanding how important Joe & Kevin and the members of their longtime backing band (who contribute to the direction and even help write the songs, like the real band members they are, but never get recognition) are to the appeal of the Jonas Brothers…do count me in for that.
I completely agree. I am a huge JB fan (and an even bigger Nick fan), but I kept wondering why he just didn’t use this song for JB instead of going solo. And the slideshow behind him was kind of self-indulgent, especially against the lyrics of the song he sang. They were great pictures, though. But they did nothing for his credibility as a songwriter and performer.
i agree DT..its ridiculous
Flipped back and forth to NCIS reruns on USA, just to watch Sugarland. They are the best!
Just announce the nominees already. The show seems super pointless.
I was just really bad TV, except for Sugarland.
Maxwell and Sugarland were the only good ones. Even then, Jennifer’s shrill voice grates on me. Everything else bad. Nick’s song was boring & repetitive. Liked seeing Dwight, though, as a presenter. He always adds class. And Ringo, who looked like he was in pain early on in the audience watching the atrocities at the beginning.
I thought Nick Jonas did a great job. People forget that he is the cheif songwriter for the Jonas Brothers at only 17. I’d like to see another 17 year old stand up there and pour their heart out on stage only to be chastized by adults. His voice is soulful, not perfect, but it definately has layers. As far as the comment about his backing band co-writing songs with him. Look at the liner notes in the last four albums, the Jonas Brothers (or Nick himself)have written teh vast majority without co-writers. Check out “Rose Garden” which Nick played live on Ryan Seacrest and then tell me this kid doesn’t have talent. He also plays drums, guitar, piano, keyboards etc. so he writes all the music and is responsible for the arrangement. What teenage act out there is doing that?
u just took the words right out of my mouth. Everyone forgets that Nick is only 17 years old.
I would have enjoyed the show much better if John Mayer performed.
