susan has a great album her singing is superb i love that she is singing covers there is so many beautiful songs for her to sing most of the music that they write now are crappy

her voice is great, but the songs suck

Yipee! I am so happy with the success of Susan”s album! Way to go, Susan!

  • Preston

That’s great that Susan Boyle’s album has sold over 1.2 million in 2 weeks! I think that people were anxiously waiting for her album to hear more of her voice. I don’t think it’s the older demographics buying it–a lot of people of all ages love Susan’s voice. She might improve on how she interprets and approaches the songs, but she’s got a good first effort. Most artists this year haven’t had a 25 percent dip the second week on the album chart like she has. Her album’s still selling strong in the area where I live.

I find it high-larious that ew.com feels the need to mention that Kris Allen’s CD fell to #28 its’ second week out, but doesn’t do the same thing when Adam’s CD falls to #22… Huh… The Prodigal Son fails to deliver… ew.com doesn’t tout THAT fact?? Surprise surprise… Journalistic integrity takes a backseat… AGAIN!!!!

    • Michael

Agreed. From my time in the biz, I have always felt that second-week sales are always more important than 1st-week. A 75% drop from a disappointing start (from RCAs POV) doesn’t lie. I’m predicting that after Whataya Want from Me goes Top 10 on pop radio (the song is radio-friendly and will be peaking in March when Adam can come back to Idol and perform), this dude will be done. It will be hard to convince radio programmers to pick up any other song on the CD and without hit singles, the CD will struggle to sell additional copies. I love to be right and glad I told my people that this career would be all PR without sales to show for it.

There are more songs in Adam’s album that can work as singles. What about “Fever” or “music again”?

      • Jinxie

You are a moron Michael. You are not right and it takes time. When Adam Lambert starts next year with his concerts (which will be sold out) his sales will improve and you will be hearing I told you so. LOL

  • GayTed

I am with Dylan…E.W. just couldn’t stop itself from pimping Adam as the next big thing and reporting his first week sales…but not a peep of them so far about the talks of the industry…his second week plunge…not a peep from fellow hypsters Rollingstone at least USA Today mentioned it and got attacked by the Glamberts for mentioning that the drop was troubling.

  • Pops

Just one question. Where is Idol winner Kris..what’s his name…Oh! Allen in all this?

    • Danielle

Actually..Pops..Kris may not be burning up the album charts, but, his single “Live Like We’re Dying” is about to enter the Top 30 (airplay chart from Mediabase 24/7)…and..it is sitting within the Top 30 on iTunes. Meanwhile Adam has yet to put a hit in the top 40 (let alone top 30) airplay charts AND “WDYWFM” is sitting in the 180 area on iTunes.

It’s about time that someone with a real voice and real singing ability can again reach the top of the charts. To have Boyle and Bocelli both up there is very encouraging. Music is coming back.

  • Ed

Sorry to disagree Michael, but the dude is not done. He is just starting. When people like Steven Spielberg take notice of someone, that’s some real serious stuff. The man has the power to make just about anything happen for anybody. Time will tell.

    • Ed

Oh, thanks pops for asking. I would have to say that Kris is alive and well. A millionaire in his early twenties, doing what he loves to do. I read that he is happy right where he is. More power to him.

  • Ed

I also wanted to mention that billboard had said that CD sales aren’t the markers they use to be. Mostly because rampant piracy. The new way to do business is touring. I believe that is where the bulk of Adams wealth will come from. In the meantime poor loser Adam is flying first class from one city to the next, staying in the best hotels and eating in the finest restaurants. Almost makes you want to cry. Of course you realize he will probably make more money in the next couple years than most of us will make in a lifetime. Kind of puts things into perspective doesn’t it?

    • Jinxie

I agree with you Ed. He also gets the biggest designer clothes. His new boots are not cheap either. Yeah pretty sad for a “loser”. I just want to know why we don’t hear about Kris Allen? I want to hear more about him sometimes and what ever happened to Danny Gokey?

  • Ed

I think Susan Boyle is very deserving of her new found fame. It’s a shame it came latter in life. I hope the fame doesn’t overwhelm her. That being said, I have a feeling her incredible sales are a result of the demographic that is buying her CD has the money to but it. Plus they probably aren’t that aware of file sharing sites. If they did they would probably do the right thing anyway and buy it. It is a great SAFE music CD to give at Christmas. People in her demographic will love it.

Time to support real talent people:

    Duran Duran “Red Carpet Massacre”
Depeche Mode “Sounds of the Universe”
    INXS “Switch”
U2 “No LIne on the Horizon”
…..Great, underrated cds that deserve WAY MORE attention than they have gotten!!!!!

  • Louella

Love her voice, good collection. Simon Cowell knows his business. She definitely has more versatility and talent than Paul Potts. The cut “Proud” is my favorite.
