Uh, whatever. Just glad Karen O got the much deserved nod. Her songs completely captured the spirit of childhood, as well as, the spirit of the movie.

It should have been nominated in the first place. Being sloppy seconds is insulting. When I saw it wasn’t nominated, I was upset. When I saw The Climb was disqualified, I was upset again.

That was so unfair! If the song wasn’t written for the movie, then why in the world was it nominated in the first place! A real disappointment to all Miley Cyrus and Hannah Montana fans. Wouldn’t the Grammys checked the songs with the company’s first before nominating it in the first place?

Ugghh! I was going to watch the Grammy’s, but since “The Climb” got pulled out, I’m not supporting the show. The situation was poorly handled by both Disney and The Grammys.

The Climb has inspired many little girls. Plus, rules have been broken in the Grammys before, why can’t “The Climb” be an exeption. I do understand why Disney pulled out the song, but have they apolegized, No. I guess Disney was trying to get out of trouble before they got into it, but only got into a bigger mess.:(

But whatever they say, Miley will always be MY idol and role model!

if “the climb” is an inspiring song to you, you might as well just go kill yourself now

I don’t understand why Disney pulled the song out, because aren’t the record labels the ones who submit the songs to NARAS for consideration? If Disney knew that “The CLimb” was not written specifically fo the movie, then why did they submit it for consideration?

    yeah right

Uhm, she never would have won against Leona anyways.

haha, nevermind. I am confusing this with the Oscars, lmao.

I think the rule needs to changed so that if a song – even if it wasn’t written specifically for that movie – had a first time release on that movie’s soundtrack, than it should be considered for the Best Song Written For A Motion Picture category. I mean, it’s a different case from Whitney Houston and “I Will Always Love You”, wherein it wasn’t a first release for the song, and it was a song that had been done by someone else before.

Having said that though…I don’t know. I never really thought it was that great of a song, personally, but it sucks for her, just the same.

Ugh, get over it! The song doesn’t deserve a damn grammy, it’s no better than any other random pop song today! The fact that it ranked higher than Karen O’s monumental achievement just disgusts me. I say good riddance for “The Climb” and finally to the wonderful Karen O song!

I saw Jessi at a Country Festival in 2006 with Jon Randall in the UK. Just read about this disaoointed but things are about to change BIGTIME. Jessi is about to be the co-writer on the UK’s Christmas #1. The X Factor wining single is THE CLIMB I didn’t realise till an hour ago Jessi co-wrote the song. So Happy for her!

Bad news: She lost a Grammy nomination that might have resulted in 10 more copies of the song selling.

Good news: Simon Cowell picked “The Climb” to be the winner’s first single on the UK show X Factor. The release today by Joe McElderry will probably sell about 600,000 copies by the end of the week and a million before Christmas. If previous years’ results are any indication, it will be the biggest selling single in the UK this year. Not to mention mechanical royalties on the airplay for the next five years or more.

I estimate her take will be about $250,000. Nice consolation prize.

If this song had been eligible for an Oscar, it probably would’ve won.
