Mika – The Boy Who Knew Too Much is definitely my favorite album of the year!

    • duffy

ohh it was so good. he is living proof that you can do bubble gum pop and still make it amazing!

      • phil

How true! Mika is the future of pop music!

      • tvsocialnetwork

        I like Green Day

    • Noelle

      I second that!

I’m sad to see that his album isn’t making many of the “Best of 2009″ lists. It’s fantastic!

    • AcaseofGeo

Great selection! His music is so joyously manic and creative. He’s obviously been influenced by Queen and one of the very few acts who can do that influence justice. I’d like to add Moby’s “Wait For Me”, the emotional opposite of Mika with its forlorn landscapes and waves of melancholy.

  • Jean Genie

Tonight: Franz Ferdinand was one of the most overlooked albums of the year. Yeah, I said it.

  • Adam

Great list! Your top five are tremendous and I am currently listening to Zero, if that tells you how big of a Yeah Yeah Yeahs lover I am. I would have thrown in Florence + the Machine, Dark Was the Night, and maybe a little Metric? But all in all, I would agree.

      • Adam

Bitte Orca by Dirty Projectors was pretty darn good, so was Stillness is the Move by them. Lady Gaga, pretty much everything she did this year!!!! The Fame, Poker Face, and Paparazzi were all amazing. Lastly, Major Lazer!!!!!!

Aw man, don’t even get me started on how underrated OneRepublic is. Waking Up might be my favorite album of all time.

    • Wow…

The New Moon soundtrack? Are you deaf? That was a horrible CD, there was like two songs on the entire thing that were any good. I had to listen to the Twilight soundtrack again just to remind myself how awesome it was. The New Moon soundtrack was just…no.

      • Kalie
