Blair Waldorf has a new one for you, kids, and as tinkly strobe-light pop songs go, it’s actually…kind of awesome: Light, synth-onic, and with a nice feathery Ace-of-Basey hook.
Stream the latest from Gossip Girl turned nascent Gwen-abee Leighton Meester’s upcoming album of nearly the same name, below:
In the amour-as-narcotic song genre, she joins a diverse list, including Ke$ha (“Your Love Is My Drug”) and Roxy Music (“Love is the Drug”). Will this one bring her “Good Girls Gone Bad” levels of pop-chart success, minus a Cobra Starship or Robin Thicke assist?

Girl, no.
My thoughts exactly.
This is so much better than “Somebody To Love.” I wish it had been her first single, lol, because then I wouldn’t have been rolling my eyes (as much).
Its short, even by UK standards, but its still realllllllllly cute! I agree with Emily, this woulda been a much better choice for the 1st single. I like “Somebody To Love” but it def. felt like a Robin Thicke Feat. Leighton Meester single, not the other way around.
Sorry but the knowledge that Leighton has no chance of making this work live without MAJOR backing track help makes me not enjoy it. Would rather it be by somebody who can sing well.
I think both of her singles have been pretty great pop songs. Just as deserving as chart success as anything I’ve heard from Britney in the last 3 years. Too bad people seem to be avoiding her “because she’s from Gossip Girl”.
Love it! She has a nice voice (yea theres obviously some auto tune going on, but EVERYONE uses auto tune for pitch correction, so lets move on). Its catchy and fun. Excited to hear more from her!
There IS an ‘Ace of Base’ vibe in this song!….and yes, there is a substantial amount of auto tuning going on.
Love it! It’s really catchy and a lot better than Somebody to Love.
I wish they released a song that really shows off her vocal abilities. I know she probably doesn’t have best voice, but I do love the texture of her voice that you can hear on random songs she did before she was famous.
I like it! Who cares if she can really sing (and she very well may be able to). In this particular genre, do we know if any of them can sing since it’s all studio sounds?
i like it….it’s better than britney spears last few singles…
i mean if ‘TikTOk’ is number 1.. well we’ve obviously lowered our standards for good songs. and that being said, i think this song is good. this kind of music is in right now.
