The grammy’s are obviously a popularity contest.

Gaga was robbed. Melanie Fiona was robbed. And Beyonce shouldn’t get best r&b and pop… it’s a joke.

    • Nick T

Everything you said was right, but you missed one: Kathy Griffin!

    • Preston

I wanted Melanie Fiona to win it. Loved that song It Kills Me! Bringing that soul thing and live sound back to R&B without the technology and AutoTune overkill.

  • Cindy

    Lady Gaga should have won’

    • ConcernedSoul

Completely agree, she’s innovative and creative, unlike Ms.Swift who suscribes to the same old formula of whining about the travails of teenage love.

      • Kindercold

Lady Gaga was ROBBED! Not that I’m a huge fan, but really now… the category was “Album of the Year.” Pretty much every song on Lady Gaga’s album was a mega-hit… how can you even TOUCH that… let alone BEAT it with a one-hit wonder?

    • DiMi

Did you see Gaga’s face while Taylor received her award. She looked angry.

  • jamonit

GaGa was ROBBED!!! Not saying Taylor didn’t deserve a trophy, but I truly believe GaGa was ROBBED.

    • Ron Gensemer

Taylor Swift deserved it. Lady Gaga has a limited appeal, Swift is mainstream.

      • ok

uhhhhhhh limited appeal? where? she’s all over the world…..pff

      • 4rocket

And Lady Gaga is indie music? ROFL, you clearly have NO idea what you’re talking about. In fact Gaga is outshining Taylor right now, you don’t hear anyone complain when Gaga wins something…

      • NatyNormal

        a mainstream for the 9 year old…

  • thunt

They definitely got it WRONG WRONG WRONG! Best Selling Album does not mean Best Album of the year.
Her songs have absolutely not depth or meaning to them at all. My first grade nephew could write songs like that.
Lady Gaga was robbed for Best Album. So much creativity and so much depth to her songs. Plus the girl can flat out sing, which she proved tonight. Taylor easily had the worst performance of the night. She sounded awful!

  • kim

Taylor wrote EVERY LAST song on that album. She was the biggets selling artist of 2009. I don’t listen to country but I gotta hand it to the girl! Congrats to you girl!

  • Stacey

    Hell NO!

I don’t like Beyonce. And I have Lady Gaga’s and it’s excellent. Much better than Taylor. I hate Beyonce but her CD is much better than Taylor. Just because Taylor has conned the music buying public about her lack of being able to sing live. And just because she has catchy songs. Doesn’t mean she deserved Albumn of the Year. Over Beyonce or Lady Gaga. If not for the Kanye incident; I doubt Taylor would have won half the awards she won this last half of year. Especially not the high profile awards like CMT’s Entertainer of the Year or now these Grammy’s.

    SO NO WAY in Hell!

  • Dr Dang

Taylor Swift should thank Kanye. He made her famous. I guess this was an affirmative action award.

    • Jason

I’m not defending swift by any means but she was already huge before the kanye incident.

      • Sally in Chicago

        You’re kidding!!!! She was “HUGE?””””?????

      • Sally in Chicago

What? You kid, right? She was HUGE????!!!!/? In what way?

      • J

She was huge because her album was the biggest selling of the year, she had a sell out arena tour, she had several number one singles not just in the US but around the world. She was winning awards (hence why she was actually on the stage that Kanye stormed) not just in country music but in the mainstream. So yes, she was huge, not legendary perhaps, but certainly huge. Why what’s your definition?!!!

      • Jason

Thanks J, thats exactly what I meant.

      • Sam

Sally you have just been OWNED!

      • Ryan

J that was the best response i’ve seen on this entire page. Well said.

      • Elliot

Before Kanyegate, she SOLD records, and she was well-known in Nashville and the country establishment, and she was starting to crossover into pop, but the Kanye thing made her go Super Nova. Even people who don’t lissen to Country, or teenybopping poptry suddenly knew who she was. Before Kanye, she won some awards from the country associations. After Kanye, she gets an Album Of The Year grammy…Yep, she needs to thank Kanye…

      • chuck

then how do you explain the fact that she BEAT BEYONCE for video of the year if she was ‘only country’ before the kayne incident?

  • bambam

do grammys ever get it right?

  • Marcus

I just don’t understand why Lady Gaga keeps getting the short end of the stick at these awards shows. She deserves so much and they keep shutting her out.

    • Lillian

Marcus I COMPLETELY agree with you. I don’t know if it’s because she can liberate the world with her music and the Grammy judges are afraid of her openness to look at the world for what it is, or what.

      • Tatiana

That’s totally right. Sorry Grammy’s that we don’t all love boring, can’t sing, overrated artists. Some people actually like a little surprise when they watch people perform

    • Andrew

On a positive, she did win for best Dance Recording (over Britney Spears and the Black Eyed Peas) and she won best Dance/Electronic Album. Unfortunately, we just didn’t get to see her make an acceptance speech.

    • Elliot

I wouldn’t worry too much about Gaga. Guys, remember when Madonna started? She was a pop tart that critics didn’t care for, never won any awards, and in spite of a passionate following, a huge string of hits, and of having actual talent, and creativity, always got the short end of the stick. But loook what happened. She became an iconic cultural phenomenon, that 25 years later still manages to have the biggest tour by a solo artist in history, was inducted in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame, and yes, has won Grammys… Lady Gaga is like Madonna in a lot of ways….very creative, “weird” , in your face, and polarizing (and undeniably talented). She’ll be fine.

      • maiv

your reply just put a smile in my heart :)

    • Eric

The Grammys don’t often recognize performers like LG. They like acts that generate no discomfort, hence Tayor (yawn) Swift’s win. Even Beyonce is so repackaged and sanitized as to be a bore.

  • jw

I think that anyone BUT Taylor should have won. Her music is just barely ok …and kind of kiddy crap. Regardless, after that mortifying performance she gave they should retract any award. She sucks… sorry kid… but really, I mean, where is Simon Cowell when you need him?!

    • Jake

Simon Cowell LOL!!!!!!!!! He’s probably scratching his head now and shaking uncontrollably in shock!!!!!!!!

  • Lillian

Lady Gaga was robbed. She is the first recording artist in history to have the four number one hit singles on her first album, and then to have additional number one hits on her second. THE ONLY ARTIST IN HISTORY TO DO THAT. So why would you give it to Taylor Swift? She’s like emo country.

    • Jase

No dear, MARIAH CAREY was the first artist to have 4 number one singles off a debut album. And Mariah’s were ACTUAL Billboard Hot 100 #1’s. GaGa has only had 2 on the hot 100. Just Dance and Poker Face. Thats all. She isnt all that. Sorry.

      • Johnny

Correction, Paula Abdul was the first artist to have 4 #1 hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
And I wish they would stop fabricating Lady GaGa’s #1 hits status as it is a bit misleading.

      • EWsMom

These people read too much PerezHilton or something….Gaga’s chart record is solid, but not record breaking by any means.

      • GinaBallerina

Actually Jase is right, that achievement belongs to Mariah.

    • Elliot

Why do they keep fudging facts? Lady Gaga has only had 2 # hits on Billboard’s Hot 100. And both Mariah and Paula had 4 # 1 hits off a debut album (it’s just that Paula did it first) Mariah had VISION OF LOVE, I DON’T WANNA CRY, SOMEDAY, LOVE TAKES TIME)

Paula had four # 1 hits off her debut (OPPOSITES ATTRACT, STRAIGHT UP, COLD-HEARTED, FOREVER YOUR GIRL)

  • rick

wow they got it REALLY WRONG!! BEYONCE GOT ROBED BIG TIME. SHE HAD ONE OF THE BIGGEST ALBUMS WHICH IS STILL GOING STRONG! SHE WON 6 GRAMMYS FOR THAT ALBUM SO IT MAKES SENSE TO GIVE HER RECORD OF THE YEAR. WHILE TAYLOR ONLY HAD 3 GRAMMYS AND HER ALBUM WAS ALRIGHT. IT WAS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE I HAVE EVER SEEn!!!!

    • ashley

the biggest mistake was beyonce winning all the other awards. too much hype.

      • rick

no she deserved it!! no hype it was real!! let me know if you have heard single ladies! HOW MANY PPL AROUND THE WORLD NOW BEYONCE!! HOW MANY PPL KNOW TAYLOR?? IM FOR EUROPE AND BEYONCE IS THE BIGGEST THING HERE!! NOT TAYLOR SWIFT. SHE IS ALSO THE BIGGEST THIS IN AMERICA SO SHE GOT ROBBED!!

      • kim

        I agree

  • Maya

No! Taylor Swift definitely did not deserve that Grammy! All the other nominees deserved it way more, and I don’t even like DMB!

  • HAH

They got it right. Sold the most and the singles were everywhere last year. She deserved the win.

    • jon

she sold the most only in the US. Gaga sold much more than her worldwide which is much more impressive, and you know it.

      • chuck

um, the grammy’s are for US only, idiot. i don’t care how many records anyone had out of the country. The grammys are for this country only

  • Marcus

I don’t understand why Lady Gaga keeps getting robbed at these award shows. She deserves so much but keeps getting shut out.

    • Sally in Chicago

Because nobody critical takes her seriously. When she comes out of those stupid costumes maybe the critics will take her seriously….and the industry probably laughs at her silly a***.

      • Carlos

Madonna, Bono, Elton John, Kanye West, Smokey Robinson, Gwen Stefani, Rihanna, Beyonce, Alice Cooper, Marylin Manson, Dave Mathews, Ozzy Osbourne, Cyndi Lauper, Simon Cowell and many, many more people in the music industry have praised her. I guess their opinion might matter a little more than Sally in Chicago’s.
