Why did I volunteer to write about the Super Bowl halftime show? Because I was looking forward to making some cheap gags about old age, Read the full post.

This is pure rock n’ roll. This is the way live performances sound. Untouched and raw. We have real drums, guitars, and a Hammond B3. Most people today don’t even know what that is. Daultry’s performance was excellent. His voice is still going after 40 years. Long live rock.

Seriously, the performance was just a performance, the sound was awful and the singing totally flawed. Anyone who thought this was good has ear problems and a deep case of nostalgia. What will rock do when these guys finally kick the bucket. It will die with them.Nowone is there to fill their shoes.

As a lover of classic rock, I must say that the who was absolutely AWFUL. Roger sounded as if he were constipated.

NFL stop booking geriatrics for live performances! Their music is best listen to digitally, cd, cassette, vinyl, 8-track…anything but LIVE.

The half time show was a complete joke and truly a disappointment. “The who”…. who does the NFL think we are??

  • DavyB

That was the longest ad for C.S.I. shows that I have ever seen on CBS!!

Have the Who ever had more reasons to smash their instruments at the end, than this performance ?

  • DavyB

Has the Who ever had a better reason to smash their instuments at the end of a performance, than this ? It’s 2010, not 1977. The NFL should stick withbands that have had a hit in let’s say….the last 10 years?

    Remember:

Those Who Can, DO. And Those Who Can’t, Review.

The Who were great. Maybe the haters would have felt better if the songs were sung by young, attractive, teeny-boppers.

Get over it, it’s only a SuperBowl halftime show.

The Who always cheats live , they use Tapes for the synthesizer parts all the time . They suck without tape machines

    • pinballwizard515

what do you expect them to do! do you want the rabbit to play the synth part and the piano at the begining of Baba O’Riley. No single human can do that. Tapes are the only way six people can give as great as a concert as they do.

The Who are a classic band, as many other classic bands out there, and the fact they create so much controversy shows they have still something to say… They were far worse than when in their prime, but that’s why old age is a Bad Thing. The problem isn’t whether or not they can rock as they once did (if they could they would not be human), but that the current music landscape cannot produce anything that remotely resembles these once-great bands, offering something new to music.

Honestly, what is wrong with us as a species?

Except for Daltrey hitting that scream in “Won’t Get Fooled Again”, it was not good. Hearing a 64-year old man singing about “teenage wasteland” and a 65-year old singing about “fighting in the streets” was more embarrassing than hearing Elton John (who will be 63 this year) singing “Saturday Night’s Alright For Fighting”.

And the drummer was horrible. Dumb down Keith Moon’s original drum parts as far as you can. Now halve that, and you’ve got that drummer. (And please tell me that wasn’t Zak Starkey—I thought he was better than that.)

    • pinballwizard515

that was zak starkey. Hewasn’t on top of his game that night but he is still miles better than his dad.

  • pinballwizard515

Are you guys kidding me the halftime show was great. The fact that at their age and can still play live better than all the newer acts is amazing. Also nothing was pre recorded. If you want to see something pre recorded check all music tv programs from the sixties and then you will see that they are still better live than any other act in the world. Know what you are talking about before you act like an idiot making false statements.

  • JRodd

Sorry but compared with other band perfomances *coff* Black Eyed Peas this was a great and entertaining show. Maybe not the best, but at least towards the end you were satisfied.
