It was sad.
So it was Roger, Pete, and Zack who was the other guy?
Pino Palladino – Bassist.
Come on now—anyone over 40 should try to step up and hope to come anywhere close to their performance——-they were GREAT!
Just have a light show and they can still use prerecorded music. It is impossible to do live music for something like this, so just stop pretending it is by performers lip syncing.
They got the job done, but damn, I’d sure like to see someone under the age of 40, hell, even 50, get booked for the show next year.
Me too. How about Muse? I’d prefer some of their older works though. Their latest just isn’t doing it for me.
That was pretty rancid. Daltry was game, but Townsend was an out of tune embarrassing mess. Time for the Who to hang it up. Actually, it’s long past time.
Who were you guys listing to????? is right they sucked. They didn’t soud good just listen to their original music.
They’re old, but I’m old too and still think Daltry sounds good, especially for a guy in his 60′s. Great light show and during the pauses in music, you could hear the whole stadium singing along. Okay……Townsend was a bit over the top.
I can imagine that the live performance was spectacular, at least the light show, but c’mon, these guys cannot sing anymore. I am a huge Who fan but that show proves that there may indeed be a place for lip syncing!
Loved it! I thought they were great!
My roomate asks me to take her to work. I said wait, it’s almost halftime. Who’s playing? she asks. The Who, I say. Who? she says. Never mind, i said upset that I would miss some of the commercials. Except for Prince, that nipple slip ruined all the halftime shows from then on. How about the Kinks for next year? Need a 15 break for the bathroom.
I can’t believe the comments I’m reading. Did you prejudge the show before they played? The Who rocked. They sounded great. If you don’t want to hear those songs anymore, fine. But the performance itself was incredible. Best Super Bowl Halftime Show ever after Prince.
I grew up with The Who and liked them then, but that was a truly pathetic performance. Their voices are gone, and – I’m sorry – but what’s up with that perm?
Did anyone else notice that when they showed the drummer, the sound was in time with the video, but on a few songs, Daltrey’s timing was a bit off. Some lipsyncing, perchance? Big fan of the Who, but thought their performance was terrible.
Have any of you people that think that was great ever listened to the Who in their prime – the vocals were so out of tune that it made me feel sad for the old boys. Oh well, at least I was able to hear them when they were great!
