The Valentine’s Day soundtrack—which, like the movie, features a star-studded line-up (Taylor Swift, Willie Nelson, Amy Winehouse, and Leighton Meester all appear on it) hit stores today. And at last night’s premiere for the movie, Jewel talked to EW about her new country single, “Stay Here Forever,” which she contributed to the mix. “I heard the soundtrack folks were looking for one more song, and I submitted this one and they fell in love with it and made it the lead single,” Jewel says. “That’s pretty cool. I wrote it for my husband, Ty, and used how I feel for him as inspiration. It’s about being in love and how going on a great adventure is fun, but sometimes staying home with the one you love is even better.”
Jewel is also working on her next album—which she said will likely be out in June. “I am not quite finished with it but I am scheduled to put it out in June no matter what,” she says. “I have been cutting tracks in Nashville and finishing them at my ranch in Texas.”
So what’s the vibe of her upcoming disc? “It’s a little country,” Jewel says. “The Nashville and Texas vibes have found their way into the music for sure. There will be a lot of love songs on it, because I have always been influenced by what is happening in my life and right now I am in a very happy place.”
You can sample Jewel’s happy place by listening to “Stay Here Forever,” the track from the Valentine’s Day soundtrack, here:
I sort of dig it, in that fun country-pop crossover way. Do you love it? Hate it? Tell me in the comments below! (Reporting by Carrie Bell)

Great song. Feels good listening to it. Easily Jewel’s best song she has released in quite some time.
Descent song after the first listen. Excellent song after about three or four. Very catchy and fun. This is the kind of single that will climb high on the charts if radio stations allow it to. Jewel’s best in a long while…hands down.
Aw, I love Jewel. Can’t wait for the new album.

Change “there” to “their”.
No, that’s what Jewel said. We all know that Jewel is not edumacated and so she used the wrong form of that word.
It says that they caught up with her on the red carpet – that means she said the word to them orally, so she didn’t spell it wrong, smarty. It’s EW’s mistake.
i like it..radio please play this..jewel needs a hit and no offense to you taylor swift lovers of the world, but without Jewel theyre would be no Taylor Swift think about that..let it boggle your mind lol
I agree..good song when you first hear it. Gets better on repeat. Jewels in fine form. ANyone notice any similaries between her and Taylor Swift? does anybody think Taylor Swift is just a more contryfied version Jewel …think about it lol
This song does get better after more listens… Jewel has been one of the only artists I have bought every album for. I hope her next album is great – was disappointed in her country album.
Taylor Swift sounds NOTHING like Jewel. Jewel is a has-been musician, I have no interest in her or her music.
you’re right. she sounds nothing like taylor swift. JEWEL CAN ACTUALLY SING and has and still writes better songs!
Huge Jewel fan so of course I luv it. And no…Jewel has more raw talent in her pinky than Taylor. I like Taylor, but vocally, Jewel blows her away.
doesnt sound like a normal Jewel but fun and catchy. I hope it will be a good hit for her
The software for this prdcout is not user friendly. I spent some time calibrating my printer and the result was perfect on regular printer paper. However, when you printed on their label paper, the result was way off from the template. I, finally, gave up trying to coordinate my printer with their paper and threw the whole thing out.
