horrible …they ruined the entire song ! I don’t think MJ is happy about it. it’s sucks.
when Michael died the music died . holly crap those singers gosh so shameful and painful to watch .They ruined Michael Jackson masterpiece ..horrible horrible !!!
it is lionel richie’s song too.. he co wrote it. It was his idea to do this. it was not great, but still liked it.
I wasn’t thrilled with it but I didn’t hate it either. I liked it because I’ve always liked the original song and besides, it is for a good cause. I think Michael would have appreciated that. What I didn’t like was that there were too many singers and it ended up sounding too busy and too cluttered. The original version just sounded better. Despite all that, I hope it encouraged donations for Haiti relief.
You know what was interesting? There was barely a representative there from rock. Ok, so maybe Pink qualified, but other than that, who? Meanwhile, they go with a autotune heroes instead of actual musicians. You would think that something trying to reach out to the world would be more inclusive.
Thats true. I did not see anyone from rock on there. so many they could of used. great singers with actual talent like aaron lewis, corey taylor, chris cornell, steven tyler, ivan moody, even james hetfield. instead they use lame auto tune rappers all over the damn thing. pathetic. 80% of it was hip hop!
Pretty bad, and that screechy tweenie guy at the beginning was awful. The Michael/Janet part was kind of ceepy.
In incredibly bad taste.
Seriously, it was so crazy. All of a sudden it looked like one of those cheesy grade school pictures popped up–you know, the kind where there’s a black background and both a side and front view of the kid, except it was Michael and Janet. Completely weird and I felt kind of embarrassed for them.
i agree… i can’t even hear janet singing, it’s like she’s just lipsynching
No, what was bad was Jamie Foxx imitating Ray Charles….WTF?
haha, were on the same wavelenght, i commented on this on another page and also gave it a be WTF!
I think if they remixed “The Safety Dance” & released it for Haiti, it will make more $$$. This was crap, auto tune has got to go…
I agree, this was awful. But I will sheepishly say that I love the song Safety Dance, it’s my guilty pleasure…nice to hear it brought up, even in a bad way!
I have to give this remake some kind words. the song/video made my ears and eyes bleed simultaneously. Very hard to do.
I thought it was perfect! I am confused as well about some of the entertainers but stll thought it was an excellent remake. I don’t feel MJ should have been in there. Janet was there for him. Other than that, it was great! I LOVE LL Cool J! He is the best, I have definitely missed him until NCIS – Go LL!
They ruined and auto tuned Michael jacksons masterpiece!! Michael would be furious if he was alive!! I can’t beleive they would even allow this!! HORRIBLE!
Was it me, or was the video out of sync with Janet? It looked like she was singing a different song.
It looked more to me like she didn’t know the words. The first word and last 2 looked OK, but everything in the middle just wasn’t
Mommy, mommy, make it go away! Just awful. And Michael Jackson was creepy.
You are just realizing that michael jackson is creepy now? you really missed the boat on that one he has been creepy for the better part of two decades.
Enough already!
Well that pure garbage, I’m actually less likely to donate to Haiti after watching that terrible video. Good points; Jennifer Hudson and the MJ flashbacks. Bad points; everything else. Bieber? What the hell was that little trouser stain doing there?
Your response made me laugh
Please still give to Haiti though…”trouser stain”…I’m still laughing…
This could have been a wonderful way to pay tribute to a great cause. What a mockery. With so many legendary musicians to choose from, only a small sampling made the cut. This could have been so much better.
It felt like a bit of a rush job. Others have already mentioned that there probably wasn’t much choice for the singers. They got who was available at the time. Remember, this was put together just 2 weeks ago and there wasn’t much time prior to that to plan for it. Also, they clearly wanted to have something finised for the Olympics. It’s all about maximum exposure. Hopefully it did what they wanted it to do. Prayers to all those still suffering in Haiti!
That was almost as painful as Taylor Swift. Rapping really? Jamie Foxx gets 2 parts and one is the dead Ray Charles? It should have just been newer talent since the org was made. Wyclef really sounding like a wounded animal. Shame on Lionel and Quincy. They musta got star struck and let Jamie Foxx direct it. Epic Fail. Hope it still raises money.
Does anyone else think that Lil’ Wayne is just gross???
I agree- when I got my most recent Rolling Stone with him on the cover, I almost barfed.
Oh God yes, he’s utterly repulsive.
The original raised money for “USA for Africa.”
I was a little underwhelmed, and not so impressed by the rap portion. I had the original… Nice idea, not so great execution.
