I recently spoke to director Steve Pink about his forthcoming comedy Hot Tub Time Machine. In the film, John Cusack, Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, and Clark Duke, travel back to 1986 via the titular device. A dumb idea for a movie? Well, that’s kind of the point, judging by the trailer, which you can see below. In fact, Pink himself described the film as “like Back to the Future if everyone was drunk.” He also promised the soundtrack would feature “plenty of fantastic ’80s music.”
The truth of the latter statement is evident in the track listing of the movie’s soundtrack which has just been announced and includes Salt ‘N Pepa’s “Push It,” New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle,” David Bowie’s “Modern Love,” Scritti Politti’s “Perfect Way,” Men Without Hats’ “The Safety Dance,” and “Save It For Later” by the English Beat. (Pink and Cusack clearly have a bit of a thing for the latter act. The band’s terrific “Mirror in the Bathroom” graced the soundtrack to the 1997′s equally great Grosse Point Blank, which was partly written by the pair.) The soundtrack also features Robinson (AKA Darryl from The Office) performing cover versions of Rick Springfield’s “Jessie’s Girl” and The Black Eyed Peas’ “Let’s Get It Started,” for reasons that will presumably be clear when we see the film. That hits cinema screens on March 26, three days after the release of the CD.
Are you ready for some ’80s musical nostalgia? Or for a film about a bubbly water-containing time travel machine? Let us know!

Just saw the movie last night! Absolutely hilarious!
I’ve been looking around for the song at the end of the movie, the whole sequence is great. So far, no luck, even with this article.
are you talking about “Home Sweet Home” by Motley Crue?
you mean Motley Lu!
Is Modern Love having some sort of comeback? It was in Adventureland and Couples Retreat as well.
This film is gonna be awesome
David Bowie makes anything better!
Agreed, this soundtrack will be awesome and hopefully the movie as well. And Craig Robinson is hilariously awesome.
Paramount Executives tried to get Steven Spielberg to use a refrigerator for time travel, but Spielberg talked them out of it.
I’m looking fot a song since a veeeeery long time and that would be great if someone could tell me the name of the sound played at the threesome scene
